The heated exchange between Jake Paul and Canelo Alvarez has now pulled Conor McGregor into the mix. Earlier this week, speculation about a potential showdown between the two gained traction with reports suggesting that Paul’s MVP promotion was working on a cruiserweight bout against Canelo, tentatively set for May 3 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. However, The Ring Magazine, owned by Turki Alalshikh, swiftly dismissed those rumors, confirming that the Mexican superstar had instead signed a four-fight Riyadh Season deal with Alalshikh.

Following this revelation, MMA analyst Luke Thomas later claimed that Canelo used ‘El Gallo’ as a “bargaining chip” to secure a better deal from Alalshikh. Unsurprisingly, this didn’t sit well with Jake Paul, who lashed out on social media, calling Canelo an “owned slave” to the Saudi boxing chief. In response, ‘Cinnamon’ didn’t hold back in his response, firing back at Paul by insisting he “just fights real fighters” and dismissing him as a fake boxer. The back-and-forth escalated when Paul posted a signed document on Instagram, suggesting that Canelo could be “bought like a hungry squirrel chasing a nut.”

Meanwhile, amid the social media spat, UFC megastar Conor McGregor chimed in, praising Canelo and Alalshikh by calling them “Planner/executioner extraordinaire! Brave.” Not one to let things go, Jake Paul took yet another shot at both Canelo and ‘The Notorious’, posting on X, “No matter how much money they spend, they won’t be able to make a bigger fight than me and Canelito. That irked them to the core. And don’t say Conor… he’s more washed than a laundromat. Dummies could have made Canelo’s September fight so much bigger by letting us do our thing and me taking his name to the masses.”

Looking back at Alvarez’s recent fights, he last stepped into the ring in September 2023, where he secured a dominant victory over Edgar Berlanga, extending his impressive record to 62-2-2. On the other hand, Jake Paul’s unexpected feud with Conor McGregor contrasts sharply with their bonding just last month at Donald Trump’s inauguration at Capitol Hill. However, tensions have since resurfaced, as ‘El Gallo’ has taken issue with the ‘Mystic Mac’s’ treatment of Irish MMA star Paul Hughes, once again reigniting their rivalry.

Jake Paul calls out Conor McGregor over his disrespect toward Paul Hughes

Once an idol of Paul Hughes, Conor McGregor now finds himself on the opposite side. The shift began last month when Hughes fought Usman Nurmagomedov for the title Bellator 155lbs title at PFL Championship 1 in Abu Dhabi. For the unversed, Usman happens to be the cousin of McGregor’s arch-nemesis, Khabib Nurmagomedov. Moreover, this title bout was branded as “Ireland vs. Dagestan 2” owing to McGregor and Khabib’s infamous UFC 229 bout and rivalry.

However, Hughes and the Dagestani clan exchanged mutual respect after the bout which didn’t sit well with ‘The Notorious’. He took to social media to label Hughes a “traitor,” seemingly still holding onto the animosity from Khabib’s past remarks that Dagestan produced better fighters than Ireland. The situation quickly escalated, leading to a heated social media exchange between McGregor and Hughes. The former double champ’s disrespect toward Hughes eventually caught the attention of Jake Paul, who decided to weigh in.

While Paul acknowledged McGregor as “the biggest UFC fighter of all time,” he also questioned his leadership, posting on X, “But equally, you have to admit that he’s absolutely not a leader and can’t build the next man up. What fighter has he helped and truly pushed? Even taking shots at a young Irish star on the rise… Paul, you will have a big, big, big fight/event in Dublin coming your way. I’m sure Ireland will show up and shower you with the appreciation you deserve. Class act you are.”

As the rivalry between Jake Paul and Canelo Alvarez intensifies, Conor McGregor has now been pulled into the drama. With tensions reaching new heights, all attention shifts to the UFC megastar, as fans eagerly await his response to ‘El Gallo’s’ bold remarks. Stay tuned for the latest developments.
