Mike Tyson’s legendary coach Teddy Atlas weighs in on the controversial Noche UFC flyweight clash

In the wake of UFC Fight Night 227 and the polarizing draw decision – Teddy Atlas, coach to boxing Hall-of-Famer Mike Tyson, has stepped into the fray with his perspective on the judges’ ruling.

Teddy Atlas didn’t mince words when he shared his assessment of the bout on his X platform. He wrote:

Moreover, Atlas’s commentary sheds light on the divisive nature of the Grasso vs. Shevchenko clash. While some viewed it as a closely contested battle, UFC icons like Irish star Conor McGregor believed it leaned in favor of ‘Bullet.’ Atlas’s observation aligns with those who saw the fight as a competitive struggle that could have swayed either way, emphasizing the championship spirit displayed by both fighters.

Valentina Shevchenko, the former flyweight champion, didn’t hide her disappointment with the judges’ decision. In a post-fight interview, she firmly asserted, “I think I did enough. In a fair fight – in a fair competition, victory would be mine!”

But this viewpoint sharply contrasts with the perspective of ‘The Notorious.’ Known for his candid opinions, the Irishman recently took to X to share his take on the flyweight contest. He labeled the bout as a “fair draw” and extended his sympathies to Shevchenko, deeming her “unlucky” in the outcome. His now-deleted X tweet read: “Fair draw. Valentina Unlucky for sure but a draw is fair in my opinion, run it back. Viva Mexico!”
