Yet another boxing-MMA crossover bout might be in the works, but this time involving the legendary Mike Tyson. Tyson retired from the sports back in 2005. However, he did make his return to the ring in an exhibition bout back in 2020. Moreover, it appears that the retired heavyweight champion of boxing might make a comeback again—But against whom?
As per reports, he is gearing up to face MMA fighter, Mark Hunt. Hunt is a legendary MMA star and just like Tyson—a knockout artist. Although their match-up is not made official yet, something appears to be brewing.

Recently, combat sports world has seen a surge in boxing bouts taking place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This one does not appear to be an exception. It is reported in the MMA world that the two legends are bound to collide soon in the squared circle to throw down. Not to mention, an official announcement for the same is due in a matter of weeks.
A post was made by @ftsMMA detailing, “@therealmarkhunt vs. @miketyson looks to be in the works for an 8-round, boxing match in Saudi Arabia later this year. Very close to being announced, likely to be made official sometime in February. The timeline looks to be December. HUGE ,” to which, Hunt commented with a single bro fist emoji.
Hunt is an eminent UFC alumnus with 10 of the wins in his 13-14 record coming via knockouts. To those scratching their heads, yes, he poses a significant threat in terms of punching power to anyone he fights.

Indeed, this bout is quite intriguing to see, since two legends, post their retirement are reportedly set to compete against one another. However, it bears a mention that there was another MMA legend the retired boxer was espected to face.

Mike Tyson and his options
Apart from Hunt, Tyson was also rumored to face MMA great Fedor Emelianenko. Just like the earlier potential match-up, this one was supposed to take place in Saudi Arabia. Not to mention, the MMA legend was considering dabbing his hand in boxing, and that too against Tyson. In an interview, Emelianenko stated, “MMA is done, 100 per cent. I’m not going back to MMA. I want to try boxing. I think that’s going to be interesting,” he added, “Mike Tyson would be an interesting fight.”
