In addition to his fighting skills, ‘The Baddy’ has exceptional mic skills. Therefore, given all these factors, he is often compared to the former two-division champion Conor McGregor. Here’s what the combat sports legend Mike Tyson had to say about it.
Barstool Sports president Dave Portnoy, with whom Pimblett signed a seven-figure contract last year, appeared on an episode of the Hotboxin podcast hosted by Mike Tyson.
In the episode, Tyson asked Portnoy about Pimblett’s capabilities in the UFC. To which the Barstool Sports president replied by saying, “Paddy the Baddy to me has like the Conor McGregor vibes in the sense of he’s electric on the mic. There’s something about him that’s very different.” (H/T: The Mirror)
“Conor McGregor, he has that too, and he could fight in there, too,” Tyson responded.
After Tyson’s McGregor comparison, Portnoy said, “We’ll find out, but I think he can definitely fight. How good? We’ll find out but Dana knows and Dana sees what I see in him, which is this guy is a meal ticket… They’re not going to put him in versus King Kong anytime soon… and he sold out the London show the other day…”
Further on, Tyson advised Portnoy to not get Pimblett beaten, “When guys do that, let them fight. Don’t get him beat, please,” he said.
Is it right to compare Paddy Pimblett with Conor McGregor?
There’s no doubt the 27-year-old British fighter is a complete star package with amazing fighting skills and a charismatic personality. However, he is yet to achieve a lot more in the promotion. Hence, it might be too soon to compare ‘The Baddy’ to the Irish UFC star.

Moreover, Pimblett has won three fights, which were not against any top-contender. Meanwhile, ‘The Notorious’ had his second UFC fight with the like of Max Holloway, who was a notable name in the division back in 2013.

Therefore, although there are some similarities between the fighters, it’s still too early to compare them. However, if Pimblett carries on a similar run in the division for a few years, he will surely have a spot among the greatest.
