Tyson Fury seems pretty upset even though he got a rematch against Oleksandr Usyk, following his loss in May. The reason for his bitter aura? He is sacrificing a lot for this fight including his family. Yes, you heard that right. He has been away from his family for the entirety of his training camp, and also has to do rigorous media day which is an unavoidable aspect for any fighter in the main event. The proud father of seven kids did not even want to be in any interviews and seems more interested in winning the fight and celebrating Christmas with his family. The same topic was picked up by Michael Bisping in the latest video where he empathized with the boxer who has 34 career wins.
Bisping talked about the ‘necessary evil’ of media day which is unavoidable because let’s be real – millions of money are given to make these fights happen and the athletes have to abide by certain things they dislike. For the rematch, the purse is reported to be closer to $191 million. Ultimately, as the saying goes, you gotta do what you gotta do.
Bisping said, “It’s a pain in the a** when I was fighting in the UFC you check in and when you’re the main event, they give you a long list of your media obligations. You’re like, ‘For crying out loud”, but it’s a necessary evil. You have to talk to the media, you gotta sell the fight to the public, you want people to watch it. For it to be a success, the people that are bankrolling this, the hundreds of millions of dollars that have gone into this, want to get a return on their investment. So they are like come on play the game.”

However, this is not the only sacrifice that the former WBC Heavyweight Champion made. He has already fought against his opponent back in May when the Ukrainian boxer defeated the ‘Gypsy King’ via split decision. Now the 36-year-old is determined to avenge his loss. To do so he is so dedicated that he even sacrificed speaking to his wife and kids for three months while training.

Tyson Fury stays away from family for 3 months to dedicate himself to training
While speaking to TNT Sports Fury spoke about his plans and said, ““I’ll be flying home for Christmas. Plenty of eggnog and mince pies and turkeys and all that.” He was desperate to get back to his family and talk to his wife. “Wish it was tonight and I was going home in the morning. It’s been a long camp, been away from my wife and kids for three months. I’ve not spoken to Paris at all in three months, not one word. Listen, it’ll be worth it 100%,” he stated.

Tyson Fury and Paris have been a power couple since 2008 and are parents to seven children. His wife is often on his ringside during the fights but she was not in Riyadh during Fury’s last fight. This is because she was six months pregnant with their eighth child but unfortunately lost her baby on Friday before Fury’s fight against Oleksandr Usyk in May. However, the fighter was not told about it since his fight was about to happen after that.
Despite the emotional turmoil Fury endured, he still insisted that it was not an excuse for losing and that this situation did not affect his performance against Usyk. Just like Fury has gone through a lot in his life, his opponent has made sacrifices as well, like missing the birth of his daughter due to training. This proves how dedicated both the fighters are to their love for boxing, so much so that they can leave their family for training. What do you think their sacrifices will amount to in this rematch?
