Luke Rockhold, the former UFC middleweight champion, has decided to take the bull by the horns and has announced that he is now a free agent. Known for his striking and grappling skills, Rockhold held the middleweight title and achieved notable wins over top contenders during his successful career with the UFC. And now, with the fire in his belly and a burning desire to prove himself, Rockhold is looking to make a big splash in the world of boxing. During his recent interview, the 38-year-old claimed that he has been given the green light by the UFC and released from his contract in order to pursue his next opponent, YouTube personality and boxer, Jake Paul. If this claim is true, it would be considered a wild move by Dana White.

Luke Rockhold is on a UFC-backed mission against Jake Paul

In his interview with Helen Yee, Luke Rockhold revealed a rather interesting angle to his UFC exit. With his release from the UFC, he’s looking to make a big statement and dim the spotlight that YouTubers are getting in the boxing ring. Rockhold said, “I’d like to beat up all these little f*cking punks that think they can box.”

He further added, “Especially one in particular. Jake (Paul) would be f*cking great. The UFC kind of released me just to go f*cking hunt that kid down.” The Californian has called out Jake Paul previously, too. And with this repetition, people might just see them square off in the boxing ring, after all.

The former middleweight champion has been hitting the gym and working tirelessly to get back in the action. In the same interview with Helen Yee, Rockhold talked about his momentum and said, “It’s coming. I’m feeling it. I’m feeling better and better and better, you know. I took so much time off of these three years, I didn’t do sh*t.”

He also added, “My skills are up and I’m growing and getting better. And I’m finding that power. That tempo. It’s all about tempo.” And that seems like a direct warning to Jake Paul.
