Can Mike Tyson defy age and health to knock out Jake Paul, or is it a lost cause?

The Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul bout is just around the corner! Set to go down on November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, it’ll mark ‘Iron Mike’s first appearance inside the squared circle since his exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. The 58-year-old boxing legend recently suffered from a health scare due to an ulcer flare-up that led to the fight being postponed from its original date in July. But as the day inches closer, questions are swirling — not just about who will win, but about the fight’s oversight.

And in another update, Tyson had confessed, “It’s hard to walk right now. But two months from now I’m going to be perfect.” With the significant age gap between him and Paul, there’s a lot of scrutiny over the bout from many prominent names in the combat sports world. But beyond that, ‘The Problem’ child also had an interesting answer about whether Tyson will be allowed to add some “supplements” to his preparation for this bout!

During a recent appearance on the ‘Timbo Sugar Show’ with former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley and his coach, Tim Welch, Jake Paul was asked how he’s preparing for Mike Tyson’s challenge. Paul confessed that during film study sessions his camp was focusing on, “Mostly Roy Jones but also his last fight against (Kevin) McBride and both of those are pretty good indicators of what he’s going to do but also his mitt work and some of the sparring clips he’s actually put out”

Tyson’s last professional fight with McBride, back in 2005, ended in a loss, but his more recent fight with Roy Jones in 2020 showed he still has moves — and grit. But is that enough to overcome the limitations of age and the wear and tear that his body has been put through?

This prompted Welch to inquire, “I’m always curious, are they going to like, they got to let Mike use some special supplements a little bit” and highlighted that at nearly 60, and after decades in the ring, could Tyson’s body still produce the stamina needed? And will he be allowed to use “supplements” to boost his testosterone levels?

Paul bluntly responded by stating, “Well, I mean there’s like a big panel drug test from the Texas state commission.” When Welch pushed further and asked, “So his testosterone can’t be like 1600 like Alistair Overeem that one time…”, Paul laughed it off and stated, “I don’t think so, no.”

According to multiple reports online, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has confirmed both men will be subjected to mandatory drug testing before the event. But for Tyson, due to his age, he’ll also need to clear additional medical tests that include an EKG and EEG to ensure his body is capable of withstanding the rigors of competition. Yet, a man who faced Jake Paul recently has shared a surprising detail about the testing procedure for their fight!

‘Platinum’ pulls back the curtain on shocking details on drug testing procedure before fight with Paul

Mike Perry, also known as ‘The King of Violence,’ stepped up to face Jake Paul when Mike Tyson’s health issues led to him withdrawing from the July 20th date for the fight. While the former UFC star was unable to win on the night, he’s recently claimed there was no drug testing for that bout, a stark contrast to his other fights, where he’d always been tested!

In his interview with Tim Welch, Perry stated, “Then I fought Jake, it was the first time I hadn’t been drug tested. They tested me for all my fights except for the Jake Paul fight. No excuses.” Testing, Perry noted, is standard practice, especially for bouts of this magnitude. So why was it skipped this time? He added, “If he’s on some sh*t, it’s so good, they can’t test for it anyway.” Could there be more beneath the surface?

But speculation aside, Perry also shared that he felt a glimmer of hope that the former heavyweight champion could hold his own against Paul after watching him hit the pads during his workouts on social media.  Yet, lingering questions about his stamina, age-related limitations, and even the potential for “supplements” to level the playing field add another layer of complexity to the bout. Do you think Mike Tyson will be able to turn back the clock against Jake Paul? Or will ‘The Problem Child’ add another legend’s scalp to his boxing record?
