Conor McGregor recently dropped a bombshell announcement that has set the combat sports world abuzz: he might be facing Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition— and not just anywhere, but in India, with the involvement of the 8th richest family in the world, the Ambanis. McGregor’s tweet, which he left up for an extended period of time, made this news even more significant.

This announcement raised many eyebrows and left fans with several questions. Why is McGregor pursuing a boxing exhibition instead of his UFC comeback? Team Khabib coach Javier Mendez voiced his opinion, expressing criticism regarding McGregor’s direction.

On the latest episode of his podcast, the AKA head coach expressed his skepticism regarding the match between Logan Paul and ‘The Notorious’. He did not discredit the elder brother’s prowess inside the ring but for him, a Jake Paul vs. McGregor scrap would be more feasible. Mendez praised Jake’s athletic prowess and dedication. He said, “Jake’s put in the time and he’s the big man he knows how to box. So that would be bad. But that’s the fight I would rather watch but not Logan that’s a zero interest for me.”

However, Mendez also spoke about how a fight against Logan Paul might be more entertaining for the fans. He explained, “As a fan of fighting that’s a spectacle? OK. You want you to know you want a spectacle no problem. You got two guys that know how to make spectacles of themselves. You know Logan Paul is fantastic at WWE and that’s why when I saw him in WWE I said Man that guy’s made for that. He is charismatic, he knows how to act but he is not a serious fighter. He is not he does not train seriously. He does not train like his brother. His brother is a serious fighter. He does not he is a serious entertainer. So, people want to be entertained yes, I think Logan Paul can deliver that.”

However, when it comes to the technicalities of boxing, he gave the credit to ‘The Problem Child’ who indeed has been in the boxing ring for quite some time now with an 11-1 record and legends like Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz, and Mike Tyson on his resume. In fact, Ariel Helwani announced that the Ambani family and McGregor were also interested in a fight with Jake Paul. Moreover, Mendez also questioned Logan Paul’s stats in comparison to his younger brother.

Javier Mendez didn’t hold back when discussing the potential fight between Conor McGregor and Logan Paul. His blunt response raised eyebrows as he dismissed Logan Paul’s credibility as a legitimate opponent. Mendez said, “That’s gonna be a bomb. His brother hasn’t won a freakin’ boxing match. Give me a break.” He went on to question Logan’s legitimacy in the sport, adding, “What’s Logan Paul’s fight record? They should stick to WWE—they’re great entertainers.”

However, co-host Len offered a different perspective, pointing to Logan Paul’s 2021 exhibition match against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, which ended in a draw. Mendez countered this by pointing out that while the former WWE United States champ had tried to make an impact, his approach was sloppy, casting doubt on his ability to truly compete at the highest levels.

Meanwhile, Helwani’s sources provided further insight into the business side of the potential fight. They reported that Anant Ambani, son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, who recently held a highly publicized $600 million wedding, was planning a major sporting event similar to those hosted in Saudi Arabia. After McGregor’s recent announcement about a potential fight with Logan Paul, the narrative seemed to shift, although everything remains in the planning stages.

With the Ambani family involved and the fight still up in the air, the big question remains: Will Logan Paul get the chance to face McGregor? Will this event come to fruition, or is it just another spectacle in the making? Tell us what you think in the comment section below!
