Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is set to fight Anderson Silva in a boxing match this weekend. Chavez Jr. was a world champion during his days as an active fighter. Silva, on the other hand, was the UFC middleweight champion and is considered one of the greatest fighters ever to grace the sport of MMA.
Chavez Jr. weighed in on 184.4 lbs for the event. However, the fight is contracted at 184 lbs. He will forfeit $100,000 of his purse to ‘The Spider’ in the process. The 35-year-old fighter though said that there was no contracted weight for the fight.

“I don’t have any contract, He’s fought his entire life at 84 kilos and I weighed in at 83 kilos so that was the detail. I don’t have any problem making less weight,” he said during the event.
“Of course, every fight has to be taken seriously, He already boxed, he’s a strong and hard rival. The weight and size advantage is his, not mine. It’s going to be a great fight but we’re prepared to win,” he further added.
“I made my weight and I’m very professional, My work with my team for six months was to respect the boxing here in Mexico. I think different situations happen for different fighters, but when you don’t make the weight, you prove you don’t respect the people and the promoters and everybody. But this happened,” said Silva on the situation.
