Why does Joe Rogan give Jake Paul a pass but not Mike Tyson? Hypocrisy at its finest?

Joe Rogan has yet again attracted the wrath of the fighting community with his comments on Mike Tyson’s fight against Jake Paul. The entire world of combat sports has continued to express worry about Tyson’s age. Being a fighter in his late 50s comes with plenty of problems. It was previously reported that he was suffering from sciatica, a rare neurological condition that induces immense pain, inflammation, and numbness in the lower limbs. This was probably the reason why he was forced to pull out of the fight against Paul in June.

The famed UFC color commentator has repeatedly voiced his concern for ‘The Baddest Man On The Planet’. He previously lifted Jake Paul up high for his dangerous power. After all, he was the one who defeated strong fighters like Mike Perry and Anderson Silva. However, things might just be different in the case of Mike Tyson. But it’s his age and health issues that have cast a shadow of doubt over any chances the former heavyweight champion has of winning.

Weighing in on Tyson’s age, Rogan said, “I wish it wasn’t a thing where a 58-year-old guy was going to fight a 28-year-old. That said, I totally support his desire to do it.” Needless to say, Tyson is one of the most powerful boxers the world has ever seen. If Paul gets a hit from Tyson’s strong hooks, he will indeed be in great trouble.

But as Rogan’s words found their way to social media, fight fans began lashing out at the JRE host. They seemed to believe that Tyson’s old age would play against him during his bout with ‘The Problem Child’.

Fighting world doesn’t agree with Joe Rogan’s support for Mike Tyson against Jake Paul

The fighting community took over the comments section as soon as Rogan’s words were released on Instagram. They began trashing the 56YO podcaster for standing up for both fighters. One of the fans pointed out, “Joe Rogan is the Same guy that’s always saying “I wish someone would have talked to him about it and told him it wasn’t a good idea” after fighters get knocked out cold.” Meanwhile, another fan dissed what the UFC color commentator said. The comment read, “What a people pleasing, fence sitting statement”

Have an interesting take?

Some of the fans put their thoughts on Tyson’s desire. Fighting an attraction like Jake Paul ensured a heavy influx of money. Added to Tyson’s stardom, the money the fight will attract will definitely go sky-high. And the former boxing champ knew it pretty well. One of the fans wrote, “Joe it’s a Fkn cash grab. How else is he gonna make 15mil in half hour.” Another fan commented, “But his desire is not to fight, his desire is the cheque after the fight.” One fan decided to take a jab at the JRE host and wrote, “Maybe joe rogan should go fight paul.. that would sell tickets..”

A few of the fans even decided to Rogan’s venture as a comedian into the discussion. Unfortunately, they didn’t feel like his stand-ups were good enough. A fan sarcastically commented, “It is funny that even in the comedy world Rogan is just another guy. He’s never nor will be a great in that field.”

Most of the fans stood against Rogan’s support for Tyson. Paul, being a fighter in his 20s, had better stamina than his 58YO opponent. This was indeed one of the reasons why the netizens believed, it would be an easy win for Paul. One comment read, “MIKE AIN’T WINNING. SORRY. AND SHUT UP. I AM A TYSON FAN FROM NEARLY 40 YEARS AGO. JESUS. 40 YEARS.” Meanwhile, another comment read, “Jake about to KO a Grand Pa who isn’t the same like he use to be.”
