Joe Rogan recently revealed one of the sweet spots on the body where world-class boxers specialize in hitting during a boxing match. Granted this would be common knowledge among most combat sports fans, it was still entertaining to see Rogan in his element, admiring the masterful execution of said technique. The 56-year-old discussed it during the #2097 episode of his famous podcast, where he hosted fellow comedian Jeff Dye.

During the conversation, Rogan pointed out the deadly liver punches boxing icons Ryan Garcia and Canelo Álvarez use in their fights. Let us delve into the details to find out the details of this strike, which instantaneously shuts down a human body.

Joe Rogan has been a long-time practitioner of MMA and has seen all kinds of techniques used in the sport from the UFC commentary desk, including the liver punch. During his conversation with Dye, the JRE host made it very clear as to how hard both Canelo Álvarez and Ryan Garcia punch.

Rogan said, “If someone hits you in the liver. Someone who is really good, you know, like Ryan Garcia. He got this nasty liver punch. Oh God, he hits people. They just blap. You know Canelo Álvarez has a wicked liver punch. When you have that shot like a left hook kind, almost partially an upper cut. It’s like a body left hook and they will slam it right here. Right here where the rib Cage and the liver is, right below it. Oh, my goodness, it’s the worst feeling. Your whole body shuts off. And some fighters are masters of hitting that kill switch.”

Of course, boxing is not the only place a flawless liver punch happens. In the second UFC title bout between Rogan’s deskmate Daniel Cormier and former heavyweight champion Stipe Miočić, the latter resorted to attacking Cormier’s body in what many consider a high IQ game plan shift during a fight. Miocic’s adjustment paid dividends soon as Cormier’s body gave out after repeated well-placed body shots. But that’s not all.

In boxing, you worry about punches to the liver. In MMA, you have to worry about kicks too. Body kicks and spinning back kicks, when they find their mark, leave a fighter in a world of hurt. Featherweight star Giga Chikadze is one such liver kick specialist.

Rogan names the most dangerous f0rm of fighting

On the #2093 episode of his JRE podcast featuring Bert Kreischer, Tom Segura, and Ari Shaffir, Joe Rogan termed Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as the most dangerous form of fighting. The 56-year-old UFC color commentator has a background in martial arts and holds black belts in both Tae Kwon Do and BJJ.

While speaking to his guests Rogan said, “Well, when I am training, I’m not doing jiu-jitsu right now, but that’s for sure the most [dangerous thing].” He added, “You’re practicing strangling each other and you’re doing it with people who are really good at strangling people… grabbing your legs and yanking them apart.”
