Logan Paul has finally provided fans with a final answer about his rumored boxing fight against Conor McGregor. After losing the United States Championship at SummerSlam 2024, Logan Paul made the decision to temporarily leave WWE programming. During these months, Paul remained secretive about his future in the company, even hinting that he could have retired from wrestling for good.

However, during his recent return at WWE Raw’s debut on Netflix, ‘The Maverick’ revealed that he would be dedicating himself to wrestling as a full-timer now. In fact, he further added that there would no longer be side hustles that he would cater to while in the WWE. “I’ve been so good at this. Now, I’m dedicating my life to this. No more side hustle, no more bulls**t. 100% WWE.”

It means that the $500 million boxing bout that Conor McGregor kept talking about was never confirmed, and it was just the Irishman building some hype around himself. This is something that was perfectly guessed by Chael Sonnen on his YouTube channel, as the former MMA fighter claimed that the boxing match was a fabricated tale by Conor McGregor to keep himself relevant. Sonnen said, “What a scam—the whole thing is flawed… First off, it’s not Saudi Arabia; it’s India—for some Indian billionaire who wants to bring tourism to the country [when] India is the most populated country in the world, like, it is just fake.”

He further said, “But let me tell you one thing that a rich guy hates: if you are a really rich guy, it actually pains them and keeps them up at night to not have their fame—a guy that rich wants his credit for it.” Well, it looks like Chael Sonnen really knows Conor McGregor inside out. But was it all about keeping himself relevant, or is there more to it than what meets the eye?

Fans speculate a different opponent for Conor McGregor

Logan Paul’s announcement after not getting into a boxing match with McGregor should not be too shocking. In fact, it was something that many fans must’ve seen coming from afar, as after announcing his return, Logan Paul used his X account to post a message full of confidence and enthusiasm. In it, he claimed to be the most important U.S. Champion in history. In addition, ‘The Maverick’ expressed his excitement for the future, assuring that 2025 will be a momentous year for his career.

Now with a confirmation of no side hustles, fans believe that all this was nothing but a marketing gimmick cooked up by Conor McGregor to hype up the appearance of a different opponent instead. So, who is the new mystery opponent? Well, it’s none other than Jake Paul. According to the fight world, McGregor and Logan Paul cooked up the story to make Jake Paul accept the fight as a last-minute decision. They wrote, “So it’s Jake vs. Conor,” “It was Jake Paul all along,” “Strategic approach to make the Jake fight happen,” and “The Logan rumors, in my opinion, were to die down expectation and get a bigger reaction when they announce Jake as the opponent.”

What’s your perspective on:

Was the Logan vs. McGregor fight ever real, or just a clever ploy to hype Jake Paul?

Have an interesting take?

It is worth noting that Jake Paul had earlier called out Conor McGregor to a boxing bout. However, the Irishman did not take the callout seriously. Now, it looks like he has finally had a change of mind. In the process, they also revealed to the MMA world that Chael Sonnen can actually be a good detective. Praising the deduction skills of the former UFC fighter, fans wrote, “Chael been saying that,” “Sonen was right about it being fake,” and “That s*** was never gonna happen; Chael been telling y’all the whole time.”

However, not every fan believed that it was all pre-planned. Some fans from the fight realm believed that Logan Paul was actually scared of facing the former UFC double champion. So, Paul, who once claimed he was finally done with wrestling, now wants to return to the WWE to avoid fighting the Irishman. The fans wrote, “Didn’t he retire from WWE?” “He’s just scared to face McGregor,” and “He’s chickening out.” But what do you think? Do you believe that there was never a discussion for a match between Conor McGregor and Logan Paul in the first place? Let us know in the comments.
