Can Mike Tyson prove he's still the 'Baddest Man on the Planet' against Jake Paul?

Jake Paul is upping the stakes for his fight against the ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson. He recently put $5 million on the table for the boxing icon to last at least four rounds. It might be a great proposition, but the UFC legend, Chael Sonnen, doesn’t seem too excited about this proposition. ‘The American Gangster’ seems to be disgusted about this offer.

“Jake Paul offered Mike Tyson a bet… ‘Mike I will give you $5 million if you make it to the 5th round, you’ve got to survive four… But if you don’t, you’ve got to get a ‘I love you Jake Paul’ tattoo,'” Chael Sonnen stated on YouTube. However, ‘The American Gangster’ has two ways of thinking about this challenge.

“By the way, I love it and I hate it so much that it made my stomach. I mean, how’s that for an answer? How’s that for a non-response by me, but it’s true,” Chael Sonnen further stated. However, the UFC legend does see a bright side of the situation.

The last time Mike Tyson fought, he bagged $10 million for it. There’s hardly any doubt that he’ll make any less than that against Jake Paul. Hence, the additional $5 million, according to Chael Sonnen, will only be a good outcome for ‘Iron’. That’s what ‘The American Gangster’ believes is the better part of this story.

Chael Sonnen wants to witness the old and furious Mike Tyson

Even though Chael Sonnen feels gutted about the fact that Jake Paul put forth $5 million for Mike Tyson, he’s still not buying the fact that it is a good idea to accept that challenge. But guess what? Just like most fans, even he wants to see Tyson get through Paul. In some ways, Sonnen believes that the $5 million is earnable for ‘Iron’ because he’s been the most ferocious fighter in the history of combat sports. However, the UFC legend still wants to see if Tyson shows, through his performance next month, that it’s not about the money but more about proving his status as a legitimate legend of the boxing game.

“There’s a part of me that goes, ‘Mike, you can’t turn that down.’ We need to know Mike, that you believe in Mike. We need to know that you’re out there to beat this man, to damage this man, to stop this man like [the] old ferocious Mike Tyson. We got to know that it’s not a cash grab,” Sonnen further stated. “The other side… a number of you think Mike’s going to win [and] a number of you think that he is going to stop him, he is going to trash him. He doesn’t need to do any of those things. He just got to get to the fifth round.”
