After facing a defeat against Tommy FuryJake Paul is looking to bounce back in his upcoming bout against Nate Diaz. Notably, after losing to a professional boxer, ‘The Problem Child’ reverted back to boxing MMA fighters. However, Diaz knows why Paul has been successful so far.

The YouTuber-tuned-boxer has a 100 percent winning record against MMA fighters in boxing. So it is only fitting that he’s being considered the favorite to win his fight against Diaz. However, the Stockton native claims he isn’t the average MMA fighter people believe him to be. In fact, the stakes for him are higher than compared to Jake Paul.

The former UFC star spoke about how Paul knows that most MMA fighters don’t have the knowledge regarding boxing. The Cleveland-born fighter is taking advantage of that fact and has been working in training and has shown his prowess against MMA fighters in his previous bouts.

“The thing about him [Jake Paul] is that he knows that MMA fighters can’t box and that they’re in over their heads trying to box because he went in there and worked a bunch over in training and now in fights also,” said Nate Diaz.

However, what people don’t know is that the Stockton native is well-versed in boxing. He has been doing that since he was a teenager. Diaz further added, “MMA fighters don’t know this, but… I have been on the same secret and I have been on that since I was 15.” Moreover, the former UFC star started boxing way before he ever thought about mixed martial arts.

The Stockton native was boxing when other MMA fighters were wrestling

Nate Diaz mentioned that he never tried to wrestle during his early years. Wrestling is considered as an integral aspect of being an MMA fighter. However, it was not his cup of tea. Diaz stated, “I am not your average wrestler [or] MMA fighter. I didn’t wrestle.”

Furthermore, the former UFC star also mentioned that Jake Paul fought fighters who were wrestling during their youth. But Nate Diaz was more in tune with boxing. He would go around the neighborhood and pick fights.

Moreover, Diaz would also fight professional boxers whenever he would find one. “When the guys he fought were in the wrestling room at five or six and seven and ten, fifteen years old, I was boxing the whole neighborhood and I was boxing every pro I could find,” said the Stockton native.
