As a rookie, Katie Taylor had a few names penned who she wanted to fight someday. One of them was Amanda Serrano. Just six years into her professional career, Taylor’s dream came true in the form of the Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano trilogy. The ideation of the fight began long before Taylor even considered her move to the paid ranks. But it never manifested due to many factors, one being the COVID-19, that put the world on halt along with the fight that went down in the papers for March 6, 2020. But after many years of planning, multiple signed contracts, and the involvement of a Youtuber-turned-combater Jake Paul, the pieces of the puzzle finally fit perfectly. And here is how it has gone so far:

  • April 30, 2022, Madison Square Garden, New York. The Irish won over Serrano with a controversial split decision. The event made its mark in history being the first time two women headlined a boxing card in the 140-plus-year history of the Garden.
  • November 15, 2024, AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas. Taylor won again via another controversial unanimous decision. With more numbers on history, the MVP noted, The fight shattered records, becoming the most-watched professional women’s sports event in U.S. history, with 74 million live viewers globally, 56 million peak concurrent views, and an average minute audience (AMA) of 47 million in the U.S.”
  • July 11, 2025, MSG, New York: Another record coming? Seemingly so! However, it is more of a personal record this time.

You see, despite her loss within 48 seconds by TKO against Amanda Nunez in 2016, Ronda Rousey still took home her career-high and one of the biggest purses of UFC women’s history with over $4.8 million. But looks like there’s another eagle circling the record. At least Jake Paul, who recently signed Serrano to a lifetime contract with his Most Valuable Promotions, believes so and has made a bet.

On March 6, 2025, Jake Paul took to X and shared a picture of himself with Serrano. The YouTuber-turned-professional boxer seemed to have promised the Puerto Rican a hefty paycheck for fighting Taylor for a third time. In the tweet, Paul wrote, “When Amanda Serrano enters the ring on July 11th, she will become the highest-paid woman in sports history for a single event. ALL SPORTS. Ronda Rousey had the record previously.”

As per various sources, Rousey began her UFC career at UFC 157 against Liz Carmouche with a salary of $574,720. She went on to earn over $16 million during her tenure in the UFC (active years: 2013-2016). And her last bout and second career loss against Amanda Nunes thickened her wallet by $4,879,766. This was the most amount of money that a female fighter received in a single event.

The previous high was also a record for Rousey where she bagged between $4.4 to $4.5 million in her first career loss against Holly Holm. And according to ‘The Problem Child’, ‘The Real Deal’ might just receive somewhere around $4.8 million or above for fighting Taylor in July. Added with the PPV payout, brand sponsorships, etc., we can expect her to get richer by a lot more than $5M. According to Irish Mirror, Serrano apparently earned $8M in her rematch against Taylor, and the base salary for the trilogy can go higher than her last purse.

Needless to say, it’s quite an achievement. And Serrano knew this well. She said, “This is a record-setting payday for both of us, and we owed it to the fans to honor the handshake deal we made.” Being managed by Paul certainly comes with such perks. And we can expect Paul to release the actual numbers soon enough.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Amanda Serrano dethrone Ronda Rousey as the highest-paid female fighter in history?

Have an interesting take?

The Puerto Rican fighter began her career in boxing. Although she went undefeated with 2 wins under her belt in MMA, her stance in the squared ring remained pretty strong. She currently has 18 wins and just 2 defeats in boxing. And both losses came at the hands of Katie Taylor. That’s what would attract attention, don’t you agree? But the fact that it will help female fighters in the UFC gain more opportunities to fight and earn is an added bonus. And Serrano is all for it as she joined hands with MVP.

“Signing this lifetime deal with MVP means I can continue fighting – not just in the ring, but for the next generation of women in combat sports.

“MVP has always been committed to elevating female fighters, from being the first women to headline Madison Square Garden to breaking viewership records for women’s sports or making history with 12 three-minute rounds. Together, we’ve shown the world that women deserve equal pay, equal rounds, and equal respect. I’m proud to build my legacy with MVP and excited to stay on after I retire as a fighter to deepen MVP’s impact and help create even more opportunities for women in the sport.”

And that’s probably why Paul is expecting to go full house at Madison Square Garden on July 11. But it’s more than just a fight. Let’s see what Paul has to say about the event.

What does Jake Paul expect from Amanda Serrano vs. Katie Taylor 3?

Prior to International Women’s Day on March 8, Paul and Nakisa Bidarian released a statement regarding the Serrano vs. Taylor trilogy. Most Valuable Promotions claimed, “It’s a celebration of unmatched talent of women in boxing. Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor have already shattered barriers and inspired millions, and this trilogy fight at the iconic Madison Square Garden will be another historic step forward for women’s sports.

“This all-women’s card is not only a testament to how far the sport has come but also the beginning of an even greater push from MVP to elevate the next generation of female fighters. Unlike other incumbents in boxing, we have, are, and will always champion women as equals to men, treating them with supreme respect and we will never compromise on those values. Thank you to Netflix and MSG. We’re honored to bring this groundbreaking event to life and remain steadfast in our mission to build and invest in lasting opportunities for women in boxing. This event is the definition of W.”

And headlining an all-women card at the Garden further lifted Serrano’s stance in the world of martial arts. Being the one to potentially break Rousey’s record and become the new highest paid female fighter further upped her game. No doubt, she has become an inspiration for the young generation of female fighters to keep them chasing their dreams. Just like Rousey did during her active period.

Do you think Serrano will be able to overturn her past records against Taylor and get a win on July 11, 2025? How much do you think Serrano would earn at the event? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
