Fernand Lopez reveals threatening messages from Ali Abdelaziz
In the article published on BJ Penn’s news website, Fernand Lopez revealed the details behind the UFC signing and subsequent release of heavyweight Slim Trabelsi. Lopez said that he signed Trabelsi four years ago and helped him improve as an MMA fighter. He also revealed he trained the heavyweight for free initially and helped him get fights. Trabelsi left Lopez after he couldn’t help him get into the UFC, but returned to Lopez again later. Trabelsi later won the Ares FC Heavyweight belt.
When the UFC came to Paris in September 2022, Lopez talked to Mick Maynard about Trabelsi. He learned from Maynard that Abdelaziz had introduced Trabelsi as his guy and asked the UFC to sign him. Trabelsi also told the promotion that Abdelaziz was his manager.
Lopez proved his case to Maynard by showing the management contract Trabelsi signed with him in May 2022.

The UFC backed out on Trabelsi after Lopez proved his case. Lopez said that Abdelaziz had been threatening him since then, in an effort to get Trabelsi released. According to Lopez, Abdelaziz said, “I f*****g own the media” and that popular media houses and journalists who have the story didn’t put it out because he asked them not to.
Lopez asked for a $90,000 compensation to release Trabelsi. “Ali didn’t agree to the $90,000, he then told me this is war and I’m from the streets and he will show me what that means,” stated Lopez.
Lopez formerly coached current UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and trains Ciryl Gane at the moment.
Jake Paul reacted to latest the Ali Abdelaziz controversy
‘The Problem Child’ took the opportunity to respond to the Abdelaziz controversy. The boxer observed that a manager who controls the media is unheard of, while promoters like Dana White doing that was common.

How does one manager own the media? Dana may block the media from asking questions about Anderson and I. Dana may block the media from coming to an event all together so he can impress his friends. But a manager that owns the media is a new one 🤣. https://t.co/rfSS9JRfLY

From his tweet, it is clear Paul took the opportunity to take digs at Dana White, and the recent incident where Mark Zuckerberg rented out the UFC Apex for an event. Paul’s tweet, however, does little to comment on the issue.
