Jake Paul cutting 38 pounds—Is he proving he's more dedicated than McGregor and Canelo?

27-year-old Jake Paul impressed one and all with his latest victory over Mike Perry on July 20. The former social media influencer knocked out the former UFC fighter in the sixth round just like he had done in his last few fights. Paul’s movement inside the ring and the power in his punches were too much to handle for the BKFC fighter.

‘The Problem Child’ is slowly and surely taking giant steps in the field of professional boxing. Former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen is super impressed by the way he made weight for the fight. Let us find out what he had to say about the whole process.

Yes, you read that right. Jake Paul indeed lost 38 lbs to fight ‘Platinum’ on July 20. The former social media influencer was previously scheduled to take on Mike Tyson at the AT and T Arena. However, the 58-year-old pulled out from the fight at the last moment because of health issues. Perry stepped up at the last moment which meant that Paul had to make weight for the fight to happen. Surprisingly he lost 38 lbs in just five weeks to get himself ready for the clash. Sonnen who has been a part of many weight cuts in his career appreciated the effort and pointed out the hunger in Paul at the moment.

He took to his YouTube channel to share his opinion on the whole and said, “But you won’t see Canelo lose 38 lbs to fight somebody”. ‘Uncle Sonnen’ then took a slight dig at the former dual champion Conor McGregor. The Dubliner also tried his hand in boxing in the past but the UFC analyst said, “You won’t see Conor lose 38 lbs to fight somebody.”

That he not have to make his weight class of 155 lbs.”

While Sonnen feels Paul did a fantastic job in losing weight to show up for the fight, McGregor doesn’t quite feel so. After his dominating victory against Perry, the Dubliner took to his X account to accuse ‘The Problem Child’.

Conor McGregor points finger at Jake Paul after beating Mike Perry

Before his fight with Jake Paul, ‘Platinum’ was undefeated in his BKFC career. However, his winning run has now come to an end after losing his fight against Paul. Conor McGregor openly criticized Perry for failing to win his fight against a former social media influencer. The 36-year-old has even fired Perry from the BKFC. But the Dubliner isn’t quite impressed with ‘The Problem Child’ as well. He took to his X account to share a message for Paul and wrote, “Jake Paul is the biggest p**bag I have ever seen in my life. 40-pound weight difference, juiced out of his head, and still sh***ing himself in there.”

Both McGregor and Paul have been involved in a lot of social media brawls lately. Paul has shown his willingness to fight the Dubliner on multiple occasions and shared a tweet on X, “So he can talk all the sh*t he wants, but the Notorious MMA is scared of Jake Joseph Paul from Disney channel.” McGregor who is working his way back to full fitness has only two fights left in his contract with the UFC. However, with constant call-outs from Paul will we see him make a move to boxing again?
