Jake Paul took the world of combat sports by surprise when he decided to join the Professional Fighters League. The YouTuber turned professional boxer co-created the ‘PFL PPV Super Fight’ with a groundbreaking deal. The division promised that the fighters would receive 50% of the revenue earned by the event. Undeniably, the act was greatly appreciated by the warriors fighting in the PFL. One such fighter from the featherweight division, Shane Burgos, had similar beliefs. The former UFC fighter recently appeared in an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports and disclosed his thoughts on various topics. Undoubtedly, the discussion about Paul’s entry into mixed martial arts was one of the topics that were hard to steer away from. The UFC veteran shared his excitement at the news and gave his opinion on ‘The Problem Child’ entering the MMA cage. Furthermore, he also wished to be able to fight him.
Shane Burgos talks about Jake Paul in MMA
The interview had a lot of topics to cover, and one of the topics that lit up the room was Paul’s deal with the PFL. However, the question everybody wished to know was how would ‘The Problem Child’ perform in the MMA cage. The interviewer, Joshua Ben Joseph, put forth the question to the ‘Hurricane’. However, the fighter thought it depended on various factors.

Burgos said, “It depends. I don’t think the PFL is stupid, I know they’re not stupid. I don’t think Jake Paul is stupid, I know he’s not stupid. So, I don’t think he’s gonna go in there and he’s gonna… like, I mean a lot of, a lot of PFL guys, not call them out, but ask, like… I mean, if we’re gonna put our name in a hat, then yeah, I’ll fight Jake Paul. And I said the same thing. I mean, he’s definitely bigger than me, but I couldn’t care less. Like, the money that I would make from fighting somebody like that, it’s going to bring so much attention.”
Furthermore, the MMA veteran added that he would make ‘stupid money’ from the fights. He reasoned that the PPV would skyrocket, and he would earn the PPV points off of the fight, if he ever went against Paul. “So, if I were to fight Jake Paul, that’s pay-per-view point”, said ‘Hurricane’.
Shane Burgos’ thoughts on the difference in their weight class
The interviewer pointed out the difference in the weight category between the two. While Burgos fought in the featherweight division, Paul is a cruiserweight fighter. Without a doubt, Burgos was aware of it. Joseph enquired if a potential Burgos vs. Paul fight happens, would Burgos be willing to go up in the class or would he wish for Paul to come down?
The 31-year-old mixed martial artist acknowledged the difference in their weights and believed that Paul would not come down. He said, “It’s not even worth me talking too much about it because I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna look stupid. I know he’s not gonna take it. Why would he take it? It would be kinda stupid for PFL to even put that together, I guess. You want to get his feet wet, you want to get him to fight a guy that is gonna make him look good. So we can build even more intrigue into his future fights.”

“So, I’d be willing to go up, for sure, but I’m not gonna put too much efforts, much thought into it. I’m gonna focus on the guys that are in the divisions now.”
There are a few fighters listed up to go against Paul. Without a doubt, the fight between Burgos and Paul would be a crowd magnet. However, the difference in their categories might not allow the fight to happen anytime soon.
