The world of combat sports is still buzzing with talks about Ryan Garcia and his PED scandal. With Conor McGregor bashing the boxer, things got heated ever so quickly. However, many in the fighting realm believed it all to be nothing but slander. One of those many is the former UFC title contender, Chael Sonnen. Despite his take on the scandal, ‘Uncle Chael’ didn’t back down from calling out Garcia.

Sonnen believed that Garcia shouldn’t have voluntarily accepted the blame. He shouldn’t have announced that he was guilty of being tested positive for a banned substance in his system. The boxing star, however, has now come clean with no traces of 19-norandrosterone. The reports still show the presence of Ostarine. But ‘The American Gangster’ has faith in Garcia as he denies all allegations.

Recently, ‘The American Gangster’ took to his YouTube talk show and talked about the heat surrounding Garcia. He zoomed in on McGregor’s slander in a now-deleted tweet, wherein the former UFC double champion asked the boxer not to say hello to him if the two ever saw each other. Sonnen believed that it was truly terrible the way things turned out between the two – “He said these things. And it was really terrible…”

Furthermore, he also revealed his thoughts on the ongoing controversy circling ‘King Ry’. He disclosed that VADA never came out and revealed the test results, even though the commission never denied it. But when Devin Haney took to social media and accused Garcia of using a banned substance, as per Sonnen, Garcia should never have confirmed it.

Following Haney’s accusation in the press conference after losing to Garcia via KO, the 28-year-old boxer took to social media and blamed a potentially tainted ‘Ashwagandha’ supplement. However, there was a twist to it. Garcia, although he remained stoic on being true to his knowledge that he was not on any PED, didn’t deny being under the influence of alcohol and marijuana.

Sonnen stated, “We had Garcia himself come out and confirm the reports by Haney were accurate. You’re just looking around going, ‘what is happening here?’ Why on earth would you do that? Why were you even in a voluntary pull to start with? But moreover, why are you confirming what looks to be slander?” Nevertheless, ‘Uncle Chael’ seemed to have faith in Garcia’s denial of PED use.

The 47-year-old retired mixed martial artist then talked about Garcia’s denial. He said, “If you thought that Garcia’s denial seemed authentic, it was.” Garcia’s innocence was confirmed as a tweet by the famed MMA reporter, Ariel Helwani, went viral. The reporter shared the results of a subsequent test which, although showed the presence of Ostarine, 19-norandrosterone, a banned steroidal compound that is often abused for performance enhancement, was absent.

The famed boxer, true to his knowledge, has repeatedly claimed that he did not undertake any form of PED abuse. Unfortunately, the trace amounts of Ostarine might be a result of adulteration. Many dietary supplements have added Ostarine, despite it being a banned substance. Although in minute amount, it can show up in one’s system when tested for.

Despite his new test result, Garcia faces scrutiny over his last victory against ‘The Dream’. What are your thoughts on Garcia’s PED scandal? Do you agree with what ‘Uncle Chael’ had to say? Let us know in the comments down below.
