The ‘Fatal Fury’ boxing PPV has witnessed one of the main event fighters facing a severe blow as Chris Eubank Jr. missed the middleweight limit by just 0.05 lbs as he gears up to face Conor Benn. For that, the IBO champion will now have to pay a hefty fine of around £375,500 ($499,574), which is almost half a million dollars. Hearing this news, UFC legend Michael Bisping gave his take on the whole situation on social media.
A boxing reporter on social media by the name Nick Peet appeared to take issue with Eubank Jr. having to pay almost $500,000 for missing weight. Claiming that a shoe lace weighs exactly the same as his 0.05 lbs weight miss, Pete appeared to back the IBO middleweight champion. While Bisping appeared surprised by the fine Eubank Jr. has to pay now, in the end, he claimed there’s no one to blame except the IBO champ himself for not making weight.
Meeting weight limits is essential for any professional fight, be it in boxing, MMA, or even in amateur combat competitions. There’s just no way around it, and when fighters in the UFC miss weight, they try to take the whole day of the weigh-in to come back and attempt again to meet the scale. For Chris Eubank Jr., though, he tried to stand on the scale for a second time behind closed doors, but he failed again.

“I hear you, Nick. It is crazy,” Michael Bisping tweeted. “However…. It’s a fighter’s responsibility to make weight. And if that’s the contracted consequence, then it’s only falling in suit. Unless I’m missing something? I don’t follow as closely as you.”

Meanwhile, it didn’t take Chris Eubank Jr.’s slated opponent too much time to react, as Conor Benn issued a response. And guess what? The Englishman was having every bit of fun with it. Here’s what he had to say.
Conor Benn’s reaction to Chris Eubank Jr. missing weight
Things had been very heated in the buildup to the fight between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn, who got his face smashed with an egg by the IBO champion during a press conference. Well, this was Benn’s time, and he appeared to enjoy the fact that his opponent got fined heavily, as he shared a video on X, trolling Eubank Jr. by saying, “Show me the motherf—ing money.”

What’s your perspective on:
Is a $500k fine for 0.05 lbs over the top, or a fair call for Eubank Jr.?
Have an interesting take?
The buildup to this fight has been nothing but negative for Eubank Jr. because his father would label him as a “disgrace” after he smashed an egg on Conor Benn’s face and won’t be in his corner this weekend. “I will not be an accomplice to their stupidity, their circus. I would never have been in your corner; that is a disgrace. You are smashing an egg in someone’s face, and you are trying to justify it,” Chris Eubank stated during an interview with Seconds’ Out.
Well, the fight is going to go down anyway this weekend, but do you think the fine was a bit harsh on Chris Eubank Jr.? Drop your comments below.
