The battle between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira at UFC 287 had every MMA fan on the edge of their seats. Adesanya achieved a glorious victory against Pereira, finally sealing their years-long rivalry. Like many others, surging boxing star Ryan Garcia couldn’t resist appreciating Adesanya’s brilliant performance. If Adesanya had lost the bout, it would have taken a long time for him to get another title shot. However, knowing the risk, he was ready to lock horns with ‘Poatan’ once again.
The two strongest fighters had faced each other three times before UFC 287, with Pereira emerging victorious each time. Nevertheless, Adesanya was not ready to give up and made sure that the victory would be his when they face the fourth time. ‘The Flash’ loved Adesanya’s courage and determination, and his recent comments about the Nigerian fighter prove that he is indeed a fan of Adesanya.

Ten days ago Garcia was having an interview with InsideFighting. During the interview, Garcia explained why he admires Adesanya so much. He said, “Shoot, [Adesanya] got beat three times, he finally got it done. So kudos to him, I know him as a warrior, and as a champion… I love his warrior mindset. I love what he represents. He tries to, you know, he tries to represent hope, you know, as a human, determination, I really respect that type of person.” His words demonstrated the respect and admiration he holds for Adesanya.
At the moment, ‘KingRy’ is training hard for a splendid matchup against WBA Lightweight Champion Gervonta Davis on 22nd April. When asked if he would like Izzy to come and watch his match, Garcia said, “If he wants to come watch, yeah, for sure,” He added, “You know what? I’ll try to find one [ringside ticket] for him.”
Due to his respect towards Adesanya, he was ready to find a ticket for Adesanya, so that he can come to see one of the biggest matches of Garcia’s boxing career. Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya promotes Garcia through his company, Golden Boy Promotions.
‘The Last Stylebender’ not going to fight Pereira again
Despite calls for a trilogy bout between Pereira and Adesanya, the current middleweight champion has no intentions to do so. Adesanya has made it clear that he does not want to face Pereira for the fifth time. The two have already faced each other twice in kickboxing matches and twice in the promotion at UFC 281. Adesanya is done with his revenge and has no interest in facing Pereira once again.
The UFC president, Dana White, has mentioned that ‘Poatan’ might move up to light heavyweight and find a suitable opponent in the new division. At the moment, the fans need to wait to find out who will lock horns against whom next. What do you make of Garcia’s comments about ‘StyleBender’?
