Ryan Garcia has been facing a lot of heat following his last fight against Devin Haney. The young fighter had made in overweight for the fight and following the victory he returned with a positive drug test which was disputed and disregarded by him. After that, ‘KingRy’ went on to social media and denied the rumors and allegations. However, the investigation is still in place with a second drug test in the picture. Since then, there has been further testing around this case which showed that he was clean of Norandrosterone metabolite. However, the dispute started because Ostarine was found in his system and the investigation does not seem to end anytime soon.
Amidst the criticism, Garcia has found support from some UFC legends, including Chael Sonnen. In one of his recent videos, the former fighter reiterated his defense for the 25-year-old while also giving a solution to Garcia by which the fighter can save himself.

Chael Sonnen discussed the ongoing drug test issue for Garcia in his new YouTube video and, surprisingly, he had a solution for him! Uncle Chael openly discussed how ‘KingRy’ could save his back and get out of the sticky situation easily and it included VADA, which is the PED testing organization for UFC and MMA. Sonnen explained that Garcia’s team had put up a huge article that did not have the main ingredient to save the fighter.
Giving the solution, he revealed, “His legal team put an article this long. Where they made sure to not do the only thing that could clear him, which was to challenge VADA. And there are a lot of ways to challenge VADA that won’t get you in a jam by the way, which is chain of custody. That is the number one way people beat drug tests. It’s not their innocence, it’s not junk science, it’s not a flawed lab. It’s not even a tainted supplement.”
It is to be noted that Sonnen has had his share of failed drug tests and knows the ways of the situation firsthand. The 47-year-old further reiterated that the DNA test through hair is trickier because the effects of any supplement or drug stay for more than 5 months inside the hair. Ryan Garcia underwent a hair test and maybe that is why his test came back positive. Sonnen also gave an example of how VADA can be questioned by giving an example.

He gave an example of the presidential election and said that people said the voting machine was rigged, but the company who owned those machines sued the public and they won 70 million dollars. However, Garcia’s camp did not question VADA in this case. Now when it comes to this hair testing method, fitness educator Derek Munro spoke about the B Samples, which also came positive.
Derek Munro debunks the B Sample hair testing for Ryan Garcia
The fitness influencer who is well-versed in PEDs and has been closely following Garcia’s case recently analyzed the B Sample results. He shared his verdict on this situation and said that the hair sample analysis proves that Garcia did not take any PEDs. Derek from More Plates More Dates has a perception similar to Sonnen that hair testing is not useful because “This isn’t a validated method of SARMs ingestion assessment. This is still new and developing methodologies around hair testing, which may be viable, but it is not a gold standard right now.”

Having said that, Garcia’s trial is going to start and only the New York State Athletic Commission has the right to announce whether Garcia is guilty or it was just the fault of the testing procedure. Even though Garcia’s camp is claiming “contamination” as the reason for the positive results, all the decisions are in the hands of the organization.
