Francis Ngannou put on a performance of a lifetime against Tyson Fury. It was his first-ever professional boxing, and he took the WBC champion to the limit but lost via a majority decision. However, Joe Rogan believes that Ngannou put on a better performance than Conor McGregor did against Floyd Mayweather.

Conor McGregor fought Floyd Mayweather in one of the biggest combat sports events in history. He was also the first MMA fighter to do that. Similarly, Francis Ngannou did the same against Tyson Fury, and Joe Rogan has reasons to believe that it was the best boxing performance from an MMA fighter. Let’s see what he had to say.

During a recent episode of the ‘Joe Rogan Experience’, the host compared the boxing performances of Francis Ngannou and Conor McGregor. He mentioned how ‘The Notorious’ fought Floyd Mayweather when the latter was about to wrap up his boxing career and it was also ‘Money’s last professional fight.

“Conor McGregor fought Floyd Mayweather when Floyd Mayweather was at the tail end of his career. It was the last bout that Floyd had,” said Joe Rogan. He also weighed in on the fact that Conor McGregor was not on the level of Floyd Mayweather. ‘Money’ outperformed the former UFC champion fairly easily. Rogan further stated, “Floyd, just kind of like wore him out, outboxed him, and stopped him in the fight.”

However, things were not the same when it came to Francis Ngannou’s fight against Tyson Fury. The Cameroonian-French fighter dropped the WBC champion and also went toe-to-toe against arguably the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time. “Francis f***ing dropped him [Fury] in the third round and battered him in the eighth round and it was just an insane performance,” said Joe Rogan.

Joe Rogan mentioned that Ngannou’s performance against Tyson Fury was one fight for the history of the spirit. It will forever be remembered as a great fight between an MMA fighter and a real boxer. Rogan further stated, “Literally like a legendary combat sports performance. It’ll go down in history.” Meanwhile, the JRE host is one of many people who believe that Francis Ngannou should have won the fight.

JRE host thinks ‘The Predator’ should have won the fight

Francis Ngannou lost to Tyson Fury via a majority decision. However, Joe Rogan mentioned that he and many other people believe that the Cameroonian-French should have been the victor that night in Saudi Arabia. Many fans also deemed the decision to be controversial. He said, “Many people, including myself, felt like he did enough to win the decision. I felt he won by at least one round.”

Nevertheless, the 56-year-old believes that it is already an impressive accomplishment for Francis Ngannou to have gone to the distance against Tyson Fury. He believes that an MMA fighter losing via majority decision to a boxing world champion is no small feat. “It’s just an extraordinary accomplishment. Even losing a majority decision to Tyson Fury is insane,” Joe Rogan added.
