Tyson Fury retained his WBC championship against Dillian Whyte in an enthralling boxing match recently. Fury announced that it was his last fight as a boxer but he will keep on having exhibition fights. Most likely, UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou will be his next opponent.
Both Ngannou and Fury have openly shown the desire to face each other and find out who is the superior fighter.
In a recent podcast with famous UFC journalist Ariel Helwani, ‘The Predator’ revealed his thoughts on the proposed bout. He was clear in his belief that it needs to be talked about.

Ngannou said, “Tyson Fury fight needs to be part of the discussion, that’s not an option. It has to be part of the discussion. If that’s not the part of the discussion now, it will never be.”
He also explained why signing a new UFC contract now might act as a barrier he doesn’t want. “If I sign under the contract now, basically, the same model of a contract, I’m screwed. That’s not happening ever. So we have to figure out a way to implement this into a contract,” he added.
Helwani quizzed him on why can’t they just do it themselves without getting the Dana White-led promotion involved.
Ngannou answered that he still sees a future inside the promotion and doesn’t want Fury to be his last fight.
“Well, I think the UFC is a great promotion and I wanna keep fighting. Tyson Fury is not my last fight. I wanna keep fighting. After Tyson Fury, there’s still a lot of fight out there. There’s still Jon Jones, there’s Stipe [Miocic], a trilogy with Stipe. That’s a big fight I can do in the UFC. And I would really like that to happen.”

But, there is a big question about what the rules and regulations be for such a fight. The fans have finally got an answer for the same.
Francis Ngannou’s coach Dewey Cooper appeared on the Schmo podcast back in January 2022 after his win against Ciryl Gane. Cooper said the fight needs to be similar to ‘Dirty Boxing’. He also called the rules 65-35 in favor of Fury, because one can’t grapple.
