Former UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones has been the talk of the town recently owing to his comeback bout and also due to his regular interaction with fans on social media. During one such interaction, Jones, when asked about his pick for the much-awaited Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury bout that goes down tomorrow, revealed quite a surprising pick. While the fact that he was following developments with influencer boxing was surprising in itself, his disclosure that he was rooting for Paul definitely came as a bigger shock for combat sports fans.

Considering the fact that Jake Paul has had a short boxing career so far, and more importantly, hasn’t faced a legit boxer yet, has exposed the American to extreme criticism from fans and analysts alike. But ‘Bones’ latest show of support for the former Disney star could definitely mean that ‘The Problem Child’ has started earning the respect of fellow fighters in the industry. His much-awaited match against Tommy Fury goes down tomorrow at Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.

While interacting with fans on Twitter, Jones, who is set to return at UFC 285 against Ciryl Gane, expressed his support for Jake Paul. In response to a question on the same lines, the 35 years old tweeted: “I’m a huge fan of Tyson, but I’m rooting for Jake in the situation. The kids come such a long way.” While doing this, he also showed his respect for Tyson Fury.

Responses to his tweet also showed that a few fans did side with his prediction. While some would argue that Paul hasn’t faced any proper challenge in his short career, the 26-year-old, in his defense, has had impressive wins over former MMA champions, most notably against Anderson Silva.

Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury is to take place at Diriyah, Saudi Arabia tomorrow

The much-anticipated fight billed as ‘The Truth’ finally takes place tomorrow after months of failed negotiations between Paul and the Fury camp. The duo was first set to face each other on 18 December 2021, but following an injury to the Englishman, the fight had to be eventually canceled. This was followed by talks of a bout on 6 August 2022, which again Fury had to pull out of owing to travel issues.
