Israel Adesanya recently announced that he would be taking a break from fighting following his upset loss at UFC 293. As such, he was one of the many MMA stars to have attended the boxing match between Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury. After witnessing ‘The Predator’s performance against ‘The Gypsy King’, Adesanya praised his fellow African compatriot. He said, “Against all odds and coming out on TOP‼” He mentioned how nobody really believed that Ngannou would be able to go toe-to-toe against Tyson Fury. However, he proved his doubters wrong despite the controversial decision.

Furthermore, ‘The Last Stylebender’ also commended Ngannou for fighting someone of Tyson Fury’s caliber in his first-ever professional boxing match. He also addressed the WBC champion as the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time. Adesanya added, “Stepping into the squared circle and going toe to toe with the greatest heavyweight in boxing. My brother [Francis Ngannou] YOU SHOOK UP THE WORLD‼” Moreover, this isn’t the first time he’s shown his support for Ngannou. He also backed the former UFC heavyweight champion when he left the UFC.

Adesanya had backed ‘The Predator’s decision to leave the UFC

Francis Ngannou left the UFC due to the restrictive nature of their contracts. He wanted more freedom from the promotion but was unable to get that. When Israel Adesanya got hit with the questions surrounding Ngannou’s decision to leave the premier MMA promotion, he came out in support of ‘The Predator’. He said, “Francis made the right call. He’s the one that kicked the door. We’ve all been behind him.”

Moreover, Israel Adesanya echoed the same sentiment as Ngannou regarding the UFC contracts. However, he refrained from going too deep into the issue. “We’ve been saying this for how long. If you guys go back on the tapes, I’ve been saying the same thing. I’m not gonna hop on about it, but he’s right, it’s little things, you know,” said the former middleweight champion.
