Former UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal is all set to return to action on July 6, but this time in a boxing ring. ‘Gamebred’ will be taking on another UFC legend, Nate Diaz, whom he defeated previously during his MMA days. The pair previously met at UFC 244, and Masvidal won the fight via knockout because of a doctor stoppage.

The 39-year-old recently appeared for a chat with Sean O’Malley on his YouTube channel. While speaking to the champion, Masvidal kind of targeted Conor McGregor just to ignite the old beef. However, he made it clear as to why he would never take him on in a bare knuckle fight, ever.

Jorge Masvial retired from the sport after facing a loss in April 2023. However, he has now put on his promoter cap and started a bare-knuckle MMA promotion, Gamebred Fighting Championship. While speaking to ‘Suga’, the former welterweight did point out that he is currently enjoying running his own business. However, the conversation then shifted towards Conor McGregor’s BKFC and whether the pair would ever end up taking on each other. The 39-year-old revealed on ‘TImboSugarShow’, “I don’t know if Conor would do that. Bare knuckle for me I don’t know bro cause that would be like one and done. But, for Conor’s a*s maybe. I’ll just f**king elbow his a*s. If it’s Gamebred FC no gloves MMA then yeah.”

The potential clash between Masvidal and McGregor has always excited the fans, particularly during their primes. However, the battle never materialized because of the different career paths of both. Masvidal ruled out the chance of him featuring in a bare-knuckle match against McGregor saying, “Bare knuckle boxing, I wouldn’t do that at all, he’s never been interested in it. He knows I got some size on him. I’ll f**kng hurt that boy.”

The pair is scheduled to take on each other in a 10-round fight in the light heavyweight bout. This will be Diaz’s second boxing bout and he will look to get back to winning ways. Despite coming off a loss, the former UFC fighter is unfazed by the challenge and is confident of taking on anyone next.

Nate Diaz ready to exchange blows with anyone

The last time Nate Diaz entered a boxing ring, he put on a show for the fans. The 39-year-old took on former social media influencer Jake Paul in his debut fight but eventually lost out. Despite losing the battle, ‘The Stockton Slugger’ gathered a lot of attention from the fans. Diaz ended his contract with the UFC in 2022 and since then has been a free agent. Currently, he is in a mindset to take on anyone in the world and earn a good amount of money. Diaz recently sat down for a chat with MMAFightingWithSBN and shared his take on his new boxing career.

He said, “I had five fights in the UFC after the Ultimate Fighter that were against top 10 ranked opponents. Then I demanded the top 10 guys, and I’ve been fighting them for 25-30 fights in the UFC. Now, whatever I’m doing, I’m finding the best fighter I can fight. I’m not going to play-fight. I can fight anybody for $10 million, and probably get $10 million”. The last time the pair met inside the Octagon, the fight ended because of a doctor’s stoppage. Currently, both fighters are way past their prime but will have some unfinished business in their mind.
