One of the biggest names in UFC and poster boy for the UFC 4 game, Jorge Masvidal decided to hang his gloves after a disastrous loss to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287. To the fans’ dismay, an emotional Masvidal announced his retirement from the UFC right after the fight.

It has been about two months since the former BMF champion left the sport, but the fans remember everything. A recent video was circulated where he confronted Jake Paul at a parking lot. Although it seemed like they had a bone to pick, the reality of it was nothing but a mock beef to just stir up a controversy.

Masvidal has always been a straight arrow. He is unequivocal when it comes to his opinions, and in a recent interview on YouTube with Jake Paul, he went on to prove just that. Talking about Paul’s upcoming boxing match against Nate Diaz, he said, “Nate’s definitely gonna have the experience over you [Jake Paul] and he’s got crazy endurance.” The fighter then went on to discuss the Stockton Slugger’s win over Tony Ferguson with ‘buddy’ Jake Paul.

When he was asked about what he thought of the fight between the two and how he saw it turning out to be, Masvidal said, “I think the opening rounds are going to tell me a lot, man. You’re in good shape [Jake Paul]. How many rounds is it?” To this, Jake Paul replied, “Its.. Its.. well we’re trying to make it 10. Yeah, like you said, his cardio is insane.

With the undertone of a warning, Jorge Masvidal said, “He’s got great cardio and I think, especially like in boxing, he should make an easy transition. I would think out of all the categories that you could have in martial arts – like wrestling being one of them, boxing – boxing’s something that comes very naturally to him, you know? I think he’s going to be a decent boxer.”

Why is Jorge Masvidal’s opinion crucial to Paul’s upcoming fight? The backstory

Masvidal has years of experience when it comes to the UFC, but his two cents on the upcoming match between Jake Paul and Nate Diaz are crucial. This is for two reasons. Firstly, Jorge Masvidal had trained with Jake Paul ahead of Paul’s fight against Ben Askren. Therefore, Masvidal has prior knowledge of the boxer’s shortcomings and strengths and can help devise a strategy to play to his advantage.

Secondly, Masvidal tussled with Nate Diaz and emerged victorious via knockout. Needless to say, Masvidal has a good idea of exactly how good Nate Diaz is within the ring – his endurance, stamina, agility, reach, strengths, and weaknesses.
