Just a week after their fight announcement, both Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou are at the center of the global combat sports stage. On October 28th, the former UFC champion faces the undefeated boxer in a long-waited boxing bout. While Fury has been deemed a substantial favorite in this fight, Ngannou remains pretty confident in his abilities.
‘The Predator’, who is getting more than $10 million for his boxing debut, carries exceptional knockout power. Recently, his long-term coach Eric Nicksick appeared in an interview with ‘MMA Junkie’, where he talked about the fight at length. Toward the end of the interview, Nicksick also opened up about Ngannou’s plan to defeat Fury.

Addressing the challenge of facing a skilled boxer like Fury, the coach emphasized the importance of not attempting to outbox him. Instead, he acknowledged Ngannou’s knockout power and his ability to deliver devastating blows to opponents.
Moreover, Nicksick expressed the belief that going head-to-head with Fury in a traditional boxing match could result in a difficult and long night for Ngannou. Nicksick said, “I feel like if you go and try to outbox Tyson Fury, I think you are in for a long night. Can Francis touch you on the chin and knock somebody out? Yes, absolutely he can. But if you are out there trying to out-technique Tyson Fury, I think its gonna be downhill for Tyson Fury.”
While Fury possesses exceptional technique and utilizes his jabs effectively, Nicksick highlighted the need for innovative tactics. Further, he stressed the importance of implementing unconventional strategies that may catch the skilled boxer off guard.
Eric Nicksick draws inspiration from Deontay Wilder
Drawing inspiration from Deontay Wilder‘s performance against Fury, Ngannou’s coach noted that a non-traditional boxer like Wilder was able to sit Fury down with powerful punches coming from unexpected angles.

He said, “I think if you watch the way Wilder was able to catch Tyson Fury, and Wilder has been known as a… not really a fundamental style of boxer. But he was able to sit Tyson Fury down. Those punches come from weird angles.”
