Canelo vs. McGregor: A real fight or just a money grab? What's your take?

The undisputed super middleweight champ boxer Canelo Alvarez recently gave his unfiltered take on Conor McGregor. Many people believed that he called out the Irishman for a fight recently. However, it seems that it was only a miscommunication because Alvarez clarified that he did not mean to say that he was looking to fight McGregor.

Boxing Conor McGregor is “very easy money,” which is what Canelo Alvarez had to say recently. The super middleweight champion wanted to show the MMA guys that boxing is way better than what they do, and these comments, without any surprise, made headlines, and ‘Saul’ got hit with the question once again in another interview. Is he serious about fighting with McGregor? Well, Alvarez claims that the media misinterpreted him.

However, the former UFC champion has fought the big-time iconic Floyd Mayweather, so there’s scope for him to fight ‘The Notorious’ in the future. I don’t say that. They asked me if I [would be] able to fight McGregor at some point and I say, ‘You never say no.’ I can’t say no. Maybe,” Canelo Alvarez told ‘iFL TV’. But there’s a catch here because, as a boxer, fighting an MMA fighter like Conor McGregor will not be that big of an achievement for ‘Saul’.

The biggest factor that will decide whether Canelo Alvarez fights Conor McGregor or not will be the financial side of things. If it matches what Alvarez has in mind, he might just give that boxing match a go. Canelo Alvarez added, “It’s not something I want for my legacy, but if it’s for a lot of money [then] why not?” Conor McGregor has mentioned his wish to compete inside the squared circle, but what does Dana White think of this proposition?

Well, he recently shared a cryptic message regarding it.

Dana White’s thoughts on Conor McGregor boxing Canelo Alvarez

The only time Dana White ever ventured into boxing was when he sided with his cash cow, Conor McGregor, for the biggest fight in combat sports history against Floyd Mayweather. But the experience may not have been that great, which led him to announce in the past that cross-promotion is something that he’ll never try again. Now, when Canelo Alvarez has spoken about McGregor, White was asked that question during an interview recently, and for some reason, the UFC CEO appeared to pretend as if he didn’t catch that question, but it was just a joke from the 55-year-old’s end.

“Having trouble with the audio over here… haha, I heard ya! Let’s bookmark that one for 2025. Let’s put a pin in that,” Dana White told sports journalist Manouk Akopyan. We’re not sure why he pretended not to listen to it because when it comes to other fighters, he’s often blunt with his responses. What do you think is the reason for such a response?

Conor McGregor has two more fights left on his UFC contract, according to the Irishman. Does that mean that he could get into boxing after that? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
