Ahead of Christmas, Conor McGregor once again grabbed the spotlight with a surprise ‘gift’ for his fans. This time, it wasn’t because of controversy, but the buzz surrounding his potential comeback. The Irishman sparked excitement earlier this week, not with an Octagon return, but with the possibility of facing YouTuber-turned-WWE star Logan Paul in a boxing match. While some fans embraced the idea, others questioned whether it was a move worthy of the former UFC champ’s legacy.

McGregor, however, made it clear that this boxing match would serve as his warm-up before returning to the Octagon in late 2025 to settle unfinished business. Despite the critics, some argue that a fight against Logan Paul may not be as unreasonable as it seems, with time—specifically the PPV sales and live gate—likely to reveal whether it was a wise move. For now, #6 lightweight Dan Hooker might have the answer. In his latest appearance on Submission Radio, Hooker endorsed the idea of McGregor vs. Paul, stating that the match “makes sense.

When asked to clarify his position, Dan Hooker elaborated, explaining that the big-money fight between ‘The Notorious’ and the former WWE United States Champion was a logical move, “Because he’d get a sh*t ton of money. Logan’s cr*p. Um, like, Jake can fight. Jake’s got some hands, but Logan s**ks. Um, yeah, that makes sense—get some money. Is the UFC going to let him out of his contract? No. Um, could the bl**dy Sheikh of Arabia give them $100 million?”

However, ‘The Hangman’ quickly emphasized that he wasn’t in a position to speak too “honestly” about the situation, acknowledging the significant difference between his payday and that of Conor McGregor and Logan Paul. Initially, there were rumors that ‘The Notorious’ and Hooker might feature on the UFC’s February 2025 Saudi Arabia fight card. Expectations for McGregor have since shifted, as neither the UFC nor Dana White has confirmed anything. The head honcho has only provided one timeline for the former UFC champ, which is “late 2025.” Will that date become a reality? A former UFC heavyweight has cast doubt on that possibility.

Is the UFC done with Conor McGregor?

While we’re not expecting much, former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub has a different perspective. Conor McGregor, known for his explosive personality, has recently become a magnet for controversy—not just for his words, but also for his entanglements with others. The latest controversy surrounding his civil lawsuit has fueled even more backlash.

In the wake of this, several companies have distanced themselves from McGregor’s business ventures, even severing ties with him. This raises an important question: Will the UFC and Dana White follow suit? Brendan Schaub thinks the UFC might be moving on from the Irishman. With rumors swirling about a potential McGregor vs. Logan Paul boxing match, Schaub sees this as a sign that McGregor’s UFC days could be coming to an end.

What’s your perspective on:

Is McGregor vs. Logan Paul a cash grab or a strategic move for the Irishman's comeback?

Have an interesting take?

On a recent episode of The Fighter and the Kid podcast, Schaub shared his thoughts, saying, “I’ll tell you what, it signifies to me that the UFC’s kind of done with Conor because he has to get granted release from the UFC or just granted the ability to do it. So I think Dana’s going ‘Yeah, do that,’ which is them going ‘We’re good, dude, we’re good.’ So if you’re a Conor fan, it’s actually a bad sign if you want to see him back in the UFC.”
