Ever since UFC’s prized Heavyweight Francis Ngannou decided to walk out and join the PFL, there have been a lot of discussions regarding the former Heavyweight champion from Cameroon. From being pitted against current UFC HW champ Jon Jones to a potential boxing match against some of the biggest names in boxing, Ngannou has his plate full right now.

From talk show hosts to former UFC officials – everyone is wondering when Francis Ngannou would be fighting next and who he would be fighting against. There are so many competitors from across different combat sports and promotions. Now, former UFC official Big John McCarthy has weighed in with his opinion on who should face Ngannou next.

Big John makes Big Claims – Francis Ngannou vs. ?

Legendary UFC official John McCarthy has a YouTube channel where he is seen providing his opinions on various fighters and potential fights alongside co-host Josh ‘The Punk’ Thompson. In their recent video, the two were discussing a bunch of topics, one of which happened to be regarding former UFC HW champ Francis Ngannou and who would be a good match for him in the setting of a boxing bout.

If I was gonna pick one, because… if there’s… Deontay can take a shot too. If you’re gonna say who’s got the weakest chin out of all, you would say Anthony Joshua and it’s been tested multiple times, but you know… the power… Deontay hits as hard as Francis does. No doubt about it. That right hand… I would say Deontay hits… you know, every bit as hard if not harder.” said ‘Big’ John McCarthy, rooting for Deontay Wilder to go up against Ngannou. 

Touching up on the Jon Jones and Ngannou beef as well as bringing Tyson Fury into the equation, McCarthy said, And Tyson doesn’t hit as hard as either guy but he’s just a better boxer but… I love John, you know, trying to, you know, size up, uh… necessary. And I like the fact that Francis was pointing out that John now has – instead of a six-pack, he’s got a keg.“. 

Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou ‘bump’ into each other at PFL

The UFC watched with bated breath as Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou started beefing ahead of Jones’ return to the UFC. The two called each other out and were ready to exchange blows at the drop of a hat. However, when Jones returned to the UFC, Ngannou had already vacated the Heavyweight champion spot and moved to the PFL.

Jones defeated Ciryl Gane in a matter of minutes, but the fans were left wanting for something more. Recently, they got a piece of that action as Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou faced off at the PFL in Atlanta.

Whether this actualizes into a fight or not, no one can tell. But the fact of the matter is that Jones vs. Ngannou is a hot topic right now. The UFC and PFL might take it into consideration and turn it into a match, but for now, all fans can do is hope.
