Jake Paul got back to winning ways after defeating Nate Diaz in his eighth professional boxing match. He scored a unanimous decision victory over the MMA icon to bounce back from his loss to Tommy Fury earlier this year. However, ‘The Problem Child’ failed to impress former UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal.

Jake Paul has grown to be in the upper echelon of the crossover boxing scene. It seems like every fight is elevating his status as a boxer and an athlete. Moreover, his last match against Nate Diaz was arguably the biggest match of his career, given how big of an icon the Stockton native is in the combat sports community. However, ‘Gamebred’ has a different take on that situation. Let’s see what Masvidal had to say about ‘The Problem Child.’

‘Gamebred’ mentioned that he has met Jake Paul on more than one occasion. Moreover, he also mentioned that from a personal standpoint, he likes ‘The Problem Child’s backstory of eventually getting into the boxing world. Jorge Masvidal told Mike Tyson, “Personally, I like his story because I got to meet him a couple of times.”

Furthermore, he also stated that Jake Paul is a rather nicer person than what others make of him. And as a boxer, he’s starting to look like one. “So the person, I like him a lot. But like a boxer and stuff, I wanna say he’s a boxer, yeah,” said the former BMF champion. However, despite making an excess of $20,000,000 in his fight against Nate Diaz, he was still not as impressed as Paul would have wanted.

‘The Problem Child’ still has room for improvement

Jorge Masvidal spoke about the opportunity Jake Paul had against Nate Diaz to prove to the world that he’s getting better at boxing. However, ‘Gamebred’ believes he couldn’t make the most of it because he’s still not at the top level. He said, “He had a perfect chance to display, you know, boxing against Nate [Diaz] and he’s still not there in certain levels.”

Regardless of the outcome of the fight, Masvidal praised Paul for turning his life around with the help of combat sports. He mentioned that the YouTube sensation was living a life similar to himself, but it all changed when he got into boxing. “He told me how he was living his life before that. It was pretty reckless and combat brought structure, much like it did to my life as well,” said Masvidal.

Jake Paul is just 26 years old and has a lot more time to reach the level of boxing that Jorge Masvidal was talking about. He has developed a work ethic that is nothing short of how professional athletes work. We will have to wait and see if ‘The Problem Child’ earns the status of being a credible boxer in the days and months to come. Also, Paul indicated that he might consider fighting MMA, too. It remains to be seen how that’ll pan out.
