Can Jake Paul really knock out Mike Tyson, or is this just another publicity stunt?

Demetrious Johnson has been adamant about one thing and it is that he does not want the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight to happen. He recently opened up about the greatly anticipated fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, which has been recently rescheduled to November 15 and showed concerns about the heavyweight boxing champion’s health. Paul fought Mike Perry on July 20 before Tyson because the legend had an ulcer flare and required medical attention. So all the signs indicate that this fight might be disastrous for ‘Iron’ Mike. ‘Mighty’ spoke about the problems of this matchup, and he even gave his verdict on who would win the rescheduled bout.

The flyweight champion did not seem too keen on this bout, and he had strong reasons for it. He declared that Mike Tyson would lose the challenge because of his health. Tyson is a legend and holds the record for being the youngest boxer ever to win a heavyweight title along with the first heavyweight boxer to simultaneously hold WBC, WBA, and IBF titles. However, now he is 58 years old whereas the former Disney star turned boxer is 27.

While Tyson is way past his prime, Jake Paul is enjoying a purple patch in his professional boxing career with just one defeat to his name. With a 10-1-0 pro boxing record, ‘The Problem Child’ is on a four-match winning streak, and his most recent win came against Mike Perry as he scored a sixth-round TKO over the former UFC star on Saturday in Tampa, Florida.

Assessing all the circumstances, Demetrious Johnson declared on his YouTube channel, “I think he’s going to knockout Mike Tyson. The reason why is because I think Jake Paul has a chin, he is going to be able to withstand any shot that Mike Tyson could throw at him.”

‘DJ’ mentioned that as the rounds would go on, Tyson is going to get exhausted and that is when ‘The Problem Child’ will strike. This is going to lead to the 27-year-old knocking out another legend which Johnson does not want to witness. Although he said that he would be covering it if the fight happened, it would not be by choice. ‘Mighty Mouse’ has previously spoken about the same topic and addressed his distaste at the matchup.

The thing that irks him the most is the age gap, and he does not like the idea of Netflix letting this fight happen. ‘DJ’ had even mentioned how Paul could fight Tyron Woodley or Mike Perry and he did fight Perry recently and won. Johnson had mentioned names like Jorge Masvidal as well. Notably, Tyson and Paul were initially scheduled to fight on July 20 but the bout had to be postponed till November because of the health concerns for the former. So ‘Mighty Mouse’ does have a reason to be concerned about this matchup.

Have an interesting take?

He had previously analyzed Jake Paul’s and Mike Tyson’s fights individually on his YouTube channel. During one such video, he dissected one of the fights by the legend and it was about Tyson fighting against Roy Jones Jr. The former UFC champ noted that the hardest thing for Tyson would be to not get caught with one of Paul’s moves when he did his forward attack.

‘The Baddest Man On The Planet’ attempted to get into the void created by the bigger swings and maneuvered. This made Jones miss his hits, and Tyson played aggressively. However, this time, not only is Tyson 58, but Jake Paul has a counter for this move. Paul is good at uppercuts, according to ‘DJ’ and Tyson could get caught in one of those jabs while trying to close the gap. He added, “And Jake Paul does have that uppercut that he hit homeboy with, that he can probably hit Mike Tyson with as well because Mike Tyson does duck his head to get into the void and get across it.”

Even this time he said the same, stating that both Tyson’s health and moves might not do him a big favor. What are your thoughts on this matchup? Should Netflix go ahead with it? Drop your views in the comments below.
