The comeback of Francis Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion, was the subject of many rumors. There was a lot of uncertainty regarding his return. All the rumors can now be put to rest because an answer has been found. The UFC was unwilling to agree to the majority of Ngannou’s demands. Therefore. he won’t be making a quick comeback to the octagon. Since the negotiations were fruitless, ‘The Predator’ is now a free agent. The UFC even made their choice clear by pitting Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane in the heavyweight class for UFC 285.
Is Francis Ngannou into boxing?
It was his decision to be a free agent that made Francis Ngannou express his wish to get into boxing. The champion expressed his desire to compete against Tyson Fury in the ring. Nevertheless, a few others find it difficult to accept his intentions. Tony Bellew, the former world champion, is one among them. He is adamant that Tyson Fury, the two-time world heavyweight champion, is someone ‘The Predator’ cannot defeat. The Canadian-American journalist, Ariel Helwani, showed great interest in what people thought Ngannou’s next move would be. He put a poll on Twitter asking the same, and the result was quite interesting. 44% of the netizens voted that Ngannou’s future lies in boxing.

The results provoked Bellew, he wrote “Terrible shame! He will not survive in a boxing ring against anyone of any note.. He’s the best MMA heavyweight in the world right now and he needs to stay within his discipline..”.

The Cameroonian fighter in his YouTube channel once talked about how he does not care about the rules. He just wants to fight against ‘the Gypsy King’ no matter where and when. Ngannou said “I don’t really care about what [it] would be. I just think it’ll be a fight against Tyson Fury. It can be in a phone booth or wherever.. that fight will happen, or on the rooftop – that fight will happen. Obviously, he will not compete in MMA. That’s not something that could happen. He would get killed!”

The clashes between Ngannou and the UFC
On January 22, 2022, Francis Ngannou made his fierce presence felt in the octagon at UFC 270. His opponent was the French heavyweight fighter, Ciryl Gane. Ngannou’s fighting career underwent a significant change after his unanimous decision victory in round five.
