Joe Frazier was arguably one of the best boxers ever to grace the squared circle. He was the first boxer who defeated the undisputed icon of the sport, Muhammad Ali. However, he came up short against George Foreman, and that is one fight that still bewilders Joe Rogan, who recently shared his take on the legendary fight.

The result of the boxing match between Joe Frazier and George Foreman wasn’t what the fans expected. Foreman dominated the fight from the get-go and won the bout via technical knockout. Moreover, he finished the match within two rounds. Let us see what Joe Rogan had to say about the fight.

The 55-year-old recently had comedian Ali Siddiq as his guest on his million-dollar podcast, the ‘Joe Rogan Experience’, when he brought up Frazier’s fight against Foreman. He mentioned how much hype the fight had, considering it took place right after ‘Smokin’ Joe’ defeated Muhammad Ali. Joe Rogan said, “That was a crazy one [Frazier vs Foreman] because that was when Joe Frazier just beat Muhammad Ali.”

Moreover, Joe Rogan also recalled how the fight ended in a pretty one-sided way, with George Foreman emerging victorious. This led people to believe that Foreman might destroy ‘The Greatest’ Ali. “Then you see what Foreman does to Frazier. Everybody thought that Foreman was going to crush Ali. He was never scared,” said the 55-year-old.

‘Smokin’ Joe’ had a 29-fight undefeated streak heading into his fight against George Foreman. However, he would suffer his first loss in his boxing career against ‘Big George’, who was also undefeated at that point. Foreman knocked down Frazier six times in the entire two rounds of the fight. It surprised Joe Rogan to see that Frazier’s team didn’t call it quits when they could have. He said, “This is what’s amazing that they didn’t stop this fight. That is amazing that his [cornerman] didn’t say, ‘That’s it, champ.”

Rogan spoke about the fight taking place in a different era. In today’s time, the fight wouldn’t have continued for as long as it did. He added, “It was a different time, too. I think today they’d have stopped the fight.” Furthermore, he praised Joe Frazier for showing so much heart and persistence by continuing to get back up even after getting knocked down so many times. “I mean, what a warrior Joe Frazier was. He’s still in there,” said the JRE host.
