The match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor has already made history as the biggest bout in combat sports. The boxing match between the two legends was held back in 2017. Six years after the bout, people still talk about the match like it happened yesterday. The impact it had on the boxing and MMA communities was unimaginably huge. Both ‘Money’ and ‘The Notorious’ made fans feel that they would blow the roof off the T-Mobile Arena in Nevada.
A recent revelation from Stephen A. Smith proved that a lot of thought went into that fight. Smith finally revealed what Mayweather told him before the fight between him and the Irishman. According to the TV personality, the boxing legend had each of his moves planned before the bout, and he did exactly the same.

Stephen A. Smith sat with Mike Tyson in his Podcast ‘Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson’. During the conversation, Smith mentioned the inside details of the bout between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. He stated going to ‘Money’s house just before his bout against ‘Mystic Mac’. That’s when Mayweather detailed his plans for the fight.
Smith said, “He [Floyd Mayweather] says ‘I’m gonna take him out about the eighth and ninth round’ and I said ‘your hands always broken, you ain’t known for your punching power since you moved up from lightweight to welterweight. Why are you so sure you’re gonna do this?’
“He says ‘Stephen A, he’s a UFC fighter.’ He said, ‘And he’s a striker. He’s accustomed to coming at you and throwing punches. What he’s not accustomed to doing is punching while he’s throwing backwards. While he’s moving backwards and pushing you off of him, he says I’m gonna walk right into him and stay at his chest.’“
Talking on the same topic, the TV personality mentioned how ‘Pretty Boy’ planned to take the fight further. According to Mayweather, McGregor might lose a lot of time circling inside the ring as well as tire his legs.
