The 37-year-old fighter recently engaged in a conversation with Joe Rogan on his podcast. While discussing various topics, Ngannou took the lead and stated that they would address the controversy surrounding Tyson Fury’s gloves. In assuming this responsibility, he added “One thing we are going to talk about is Tyson’s gloves. He is very tricky with his glove. I think he cheats. I’ve heard a lot of complaints about his gloves, which is like his glove has no protection.”

Rogan was kind of surprised by Ngannou’s statement and inquired from where he had heard this from, to which, Ngannou was quick to answer. He stated “ Even when he fought Deontay Wilder, he complained about that. Even directors complained about that. And that’s what we are talking about, the team, and then I’m like, Oh yes, the UK commission, the gloves. I’m like, Bro, we are gonna get there. We need every glove to be checked. You don’t tell me about this commission. All the gloves should be checked. If you want us to fight bare hands, bare knuckles, let’s go bare knuckles. But don’t give me 10-ounce gloves and wear 8-ounce or 6-ounce gloves because he has no protection.”

The Glove controversy started way back in 2015 when Fury was defending his WBO International Heavy title against Christian Hammer. The fight was unexpectedly delayed when the referee noticed that the left thumb part of one of Fury’s gloves was detached, appearing to have been cut off from the base.

The controversy surfaced again in 2020 when Tyson Fury fought against Deontay Wilder. Fury was accused by Wilder of tampering with his gloves mid-fight. Wilder in further speculation added that Fury had placed a sharp object in one of his gloves so that the impact of his punches increases. Even though the allegations were big, Fury denied the allegations. However, the community had other thoughts in their mind.
