Esquiva Falcao found himself on the receiving end of backlash after his recent comments questioning Nate Diaz didn’t go down well with the MMA fans. The Brazilian boxer recently sparred with the Stockton Slapper and closely judged his boxing game. But the middleweight boxer didn’t like what the former UFC fighter offered in the session. The American fighter appeared “dying” and “tired” to him and he described him as “bad”.

Diaz is honing his boxing skills ahead of his much-anticipated match against Jake Paul on August 5 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Falcao’s comments might come as an alarm to Diaz, who recently flirted with the idea to extend the grudge fight to 10 rounds.

The 33-year-old boxer took to his Instagram handle and revealed Diaz looked tired and the coach Robert Garcia asked him to hold back a little.

He said, “At first I thought he was tired, and in the end it looked like he was dying. His fighting style is crazy. You look at him and say, ‘Oh, he’s tired,’ and then we started sparring. Robert [Garcia] told me in the second round, ‘He’s tired already, hold back a little bit and keep the rhythm so he does at least 10 rounds.”

“I held back and kept boxing, and we did 12 rounds. He was tired, but taking punches and throwing, too. [He] is bad, [he] is bad,” he added later.

These comments stand in stark contrast to another training partner Diaz recently sparred with. Regis Prograis told Ariel Helwani that, unlike others, “he knows what to do with his hands.”

MMA fans blasted Falcao for downplaying Diaz

A comment mentioned while Diaz was not a boxer, still he could take Falcao’s life.

Someone poked fun at him for taking a picture after calling him unimpressive.

Similarly, a user dubbed Falcao a nerd.

A fan resonated with Falcao’s statements and referred to Diaz’s ability to take hits.

An MMA admitted Diaz was never the best guy in the gym, but he was sneaky.

Someone took a dig at Diaz for his lifestyle choices.

Lastly, a comment declared a dying Diaz was still better than his opponent.
