The former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou tested his boxing skills with a top heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua. However, the boxer kept the upper hand and finished Ngannou with one of the most brutal knockouts since the days of one ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson. It was also the only KO of Ngannou’s career. Meanwhile, Ngannou’s former boss, UFC CEO Dana White seemed to have an “I told you so” response when asked about the bout.

Fans have meanwhile been left with a sore taste in their mouth in response to White’s comments on Ngannou’s loss.

Dana White, during the post-fight press conference of UFC 299, was asked how he felt about Joshua’s KO against Ngannou. He claimed that he hadn’t watched the fight between the two but saw some clips of the KO. On what he thought about the fight, he said, “Yeah, I mean, going into the fury fight. If Fury trained for the fight and didn’t show up and look like he ate Tyson Fury. Probably the way that fight would ended too. I mean, listen the crossover- You know how I feel about crossovers in boxing and that’s that’s how they end. Just like that.”

The Predator had previously quit the UFC after his contract negotiations had gone sour, allegedly over fighter pay controversy. Needless to say, fans weren’t too enthused by White’s response.

A fan pointed out the pay differential between the UFC and boxing using an example of the recent UFC event and  Ngannou’s fight. Mind you, Ngannou had earlier pointed out that he had only made $600,000 for his last UFC fight where he comfortably beat heavyweight contender Cyril Gane.

“Francis made more getting KOed than the total payout for all fighters on the 299 card even including their “win bonuses” lol”

For your reference, Ngannou made $20 million despite being knocked out against AJ in the most brutal fashion.

Another pointed out how Dana White smiled throughout his statement

“Dana couldn’t contain his smile !”

A few more chipped in to point out how much Francis Got paid as compared to his UFC career

“Someone should’ve asked Dana if he saw the fight purse”. “50mil or 50gs… Francis beat the game”. “He made $20m though”. Needless to say, fans were in support of the Cameroonian fighter-turned-boxer.

Another fan recalled how Dana White was supportive of McGregor when he faced Floyd Mayweather.

“‘That’s how I feel about crossover boxing.’ He started this sh*t with Conor.”

Meanwhile, this fan mentioned how White was frustrated with Ngannou getting a big paycheque after leaving the promotion

“They got Dana cheesing rn”

While fans seem to rejoice despite Ngannou’s loss, there’s a good reason for it. In an interview before the boxing bout, the former champion had revealed that despite holding UFC gold, he had been in massive debt and had Kamaru Usman financially help him out.

During a recent episode of Pound4Pound with Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo, the former UFC champ revealed his financial situation when he was the UFC champion. He put Dana White on the spot after revealing that he owed his friend, and former UFC champion, Kamaru Usman quite a lot of money.

In the interview, he stated, “You were talking earlier about the contract that I turned down. Usman is here, he knew a lot about the stuff that I turned down from the UFC, the negotiation even my last fight in the UFC. You know I took $600,000 for my last fight in the UFC as opposed to $5 million that they were offering for the same fight. And I was broke. At the time I owed Usman, right here, I owed him $200,000. I was broke. It’s true!”
