Ryan Garcia has recently ignited a fire in the world of mixed martial arts as he hinted at his desire to step into the Octagon. He took to X and announced that he was quite excited to enter the UFC and train under the undisputed light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira. Needless to say, the fight fans weren’t too happy with the news.
The former WBC interim lightweight champion recently faced some challenges owing to a failed drug test. He tested positive for trace amounts of ostarine, a common adulterant in health supplements, these days. This resulted in his fight with Devin Haney getting overturned and a fine of $1 million and an additional value of $10 thousand. He then declared that he would take retirement from the realm of boxing till the ban was lifted.
While many stood against the boxer, Dana White supported Garcia and opined that he was indeed innocent. The UFC head honcho quoted, “With all our knowledge that we have and the years that we’ve been drug-testing, we believe the people who had handled the drug-testing [knew] that he took a tainted supplement and that he did not cheat.”

Ryan Garcia’s decision to train under Alex Pereira questioned online
Many fans believed that training under ‘Poatan’ was the wrong thing to do since he was pretty weak in his grappling game. Instead, they suggested he should train with the former UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov. “Better go to a khabib camp first 3-4 years,” one of the fans wrote. Meanwhile, another commented, “He doesn’t need alex he needs khabid.. for the wrestling if he’s actually serious.” The comments about focusing on grappling kept on rushing in. One more comment read, “Um..shouldn’t he be working with a grappler?”
There were also those who believed that Garcia would not survive in the world of MMA. Some predicted that Garcia would tap out if he ever fought an MMA bout. A comment read, “Garcia taps in first minute.” Another fan wrote, “They gon Choke that boy out.” One more comment went, “He gets taken down and it’s over.”
