Francis Ngannou may have put on a great fight against Tyson Fury, but he did not win the match. The decision of the fight has been deemed controversial by many. Meanwhile, ‘The Predator’ recently ideated the real reason he lost in an interview with Ariel Helwani on ‘The MMA Hour’.

A star-studded event, luminaries across the world came to witness the heavyweight clash between Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury in Riyadh. They were in for a treat as the fight was very close, with ‘The Predator’ even scoring a knockdown in the third round. However, that was not enough for him to secure the victory, as Fury won the fight via a split decision. Meanwhile, let’s take a look at what Ngannou had to say about the fight.

During the interview with Ariel Helwani, the former UFC star claimed to have won the fight. He took the time to watch the fight back and believes that he clearly defeated the WBC champion Tyson Fury. He cannot seem to comprehend the reason for his defeat. Francis Ngannou said, “I really believe that I won that fight. I watched that fight and I’m like, I don’t understand how I lost.”

Besides, Francis Ngannou knew that the fight was not going to be an easy one. After all, he was fighting one of the greatest heavyweight boxers in his very first professional boxing match. However, Ngannou and his team were determined to avoid a knockout and take the fight to the distance. “We knew that if we get to the decision, it’s going to be tough only because the fight was going to be tough itself,” said ‘The Predator’. Moreover, he also opened up on the real reason he believes he lost the fight.

‘The Predator’ claims “politics” was in play when the judges scored the fight in Fury’s favor

Francis Ngannou believes that he was robbed of a win against Tyson Fury because there were a lot of politics involved in that fight. ‘The Gypsy King’ was there fighting to protect the face of boxing, and as such, they tried to protect the sport. Ngannou further stated, “Because there is a lot on the line for the boxing community, for politics [and] for people inside there. They’re going to protect it. That’s what they did”

Moreover, after hearing how the judges scored the fight, Ngannou had a lot of questions he wanted to ask the judges. He claimed to have felt as if the judges were not judging his fight. Instead, they might have been occupied with some other fight. ‘The Predator’ added, “I listen to the scorecard, there are people… that I wanna ask like, ‘Okay, what exactly made you score like that? Which fight were we scoring? Were you watching another fight on your monitor? Or were you watching the actual fight?'”

Francis Ngannou may have lost his first boxing match, but he’s determined to bounce back stronger into the ring. He recently released a statement claiming that he will return to MMA for a few fights.
