Francis Ngannou is the baddest man on the planet. After his stunning performance against boxing heavyweight champion Tyson Fury last month, the Cameroonian is in great demand. And boxing promoter Eddie Hearn is one of those people.

The Matchroom Boxing boss is keen to have Ngannou fight his client and former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua next. And amid the ambiguity over his next move, the former UFC heavyweight champion has revealed what his next step will be.

Francis Ngannou gave an interview to The Last Stand podcast on the Showtime YouTube channel. Amid rumors of a possible Joshua boxing match, which Hearn had been pushing for, or an MMA fight with former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, ‘The Predator’ was asked to clarify who he would fight next.

The PFL fighter said that there were serious talks about him fighting Wilder in MMA. He then addressed Eddie Hearn and his media campaign for Ngannou-Joshua. The 36-year-old was not a big fan of the promoter, and he told the interviewer why he did not hold Hearn in high regard.

Ngannou said that he had met Hearn after leaving the UFC. He thought the latter was not interested in representing him, as Hearn did not contact him after their meeting. The former UFC champion felt that the only reason Hearn is interested in him now is because of his success against Fury, something the promoter had no part in.

“My team received a text from Eddie and I think that’s all. I met Eddie when I’d just separated with the UFC and I think it wasn’t interesting for them because I never heard back until the other day, until somebody else stepped in and took all the risk, and now he’s around,” he said. And Ngannou has made the transition to being a serious boxer and may challenge Fury for the title next, given the WBC’s latest reported move.

Ngannou reportedly ranked no. 10 heavyweight boxer by WBC

The WBC is one of the big four boxing-sanctioning bodies. Tyson Fury currently holds the WBC heavyweight title. And Ngannou has reportedly been ranked no. 10 heavyweight by the body, which means that he can fight for the WBC title against Fury next.

This report has not yet been confirmed, though. But, given that WBC President Mauricio Suleiman had indicated immediately after Fury-Ngannou that the body would look to rank the Cameroonian, the move looks likely.
