A bout between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou is a dream event for the MMA community. Many believed that the fight between the two would come to fruition when Jones was getting ready for the UFC return. However, by the time ‘Bones’ made his return to the world’s biggest MMA promotion, Ngannou had left the promotion and chosen to be a free agent. Now he has signed with the UFC’s rival promotion, PFL, and will have his debut fight in the promotion in 2024.

Before his MMA fight in PFL, ‘The Predator’ has something huge waiting for him. The former UFC heavyweight champion is all set to lock horns with Tyson Fury in a boxing match. The boxing match between the two will take place on October 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, even after having a number of great opportunities at hand, Ngannou still wants to fight against Jones. Francis Ngannou aims for a bigger fight against Jon Jones

Francis Ngannou sat down with boxing legend Mike Tyson in his podcast, ‘Hotboxin with Mike Tyson.’ During their chat, Ngannou talked about the possibility of a bout between him and Jones. He said, “No, I would not say he’s hitting on me. I’m disappointed too but that fight again, that fight is still possible, you know. I think we both are down for it. I left the UFC. That doesn’t mean that this fight can, cannot happen.

The Cameroonian-French fighter continued, “Imagine like me and Jon Jones fighting like after the Tyson Fury… You just get that fight bigger and bigger, you know, so that fight will always be there when both of us, we want to fight now. It is a matter of like our contractual situation.Ngannou believes that they can have a bigger fight in the future after his fight against Fury. He also confessed to Mike Tyson that their present contracts aren’t letting them fight against each other.

The face-off between the two great heavyweights

At the Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta during the PFL 5 events, Jones and Ngannou came face-to-face. A clip shared by ESPN MMA captured the two fighters conversing initially about their mutual admiration. However, the tone of their chat quickly shifted. During their chat, the Cameroonian-French fighter voiced his desire to compete with the reigning UFC heavyweight champion. In response to the former UFC heavyweight champion’s wish, Jones cautioned him about a potential defeat.

However, Ngannou preferred to have them outside the UFC, as he left the promotion on bad terms with the UFC president, Dana White.
