Francis Ngannou Advised to Not Return to MMA by Ex-UFC Champion After Controversial Loss Against Tyson Fury – “Nothing Left”

Francis Ngannou put on the performance of a lifetime against Tyson Fury. It was his first-ever professional boxing match and he showed how well he can really be inside the squared circle. Meanwhile, former UFC star and champion Demetrious Johnson recently suggested that Ngannou should continue his boxing venture instead of returning to MMA.

In the early rounds of the fight, Francis Ngannou scored a knockdown against Tyson Fury, who is arguably the best heavyweight boxer today. However, he could not grab the victory and suffered a narrow split decision loss. However, ‘The Predator’ impressed many people, and one of them was Demetrious Johnson.

Demetrious Johnson advises Francis Ngannou to continue boxing

‘Mighty Mouse’ recently posted a video on his YouTube channel, weighing in on Francis Ngannou’s boxing debut. He was seemingly impressed by the Cameroonian-French fighter, who gave Tyson Fury a run for his money. Following the bout, Demetrious Johnson believes that Ngannou should continue his boxing career rather than revert to MMA.

“I don’t think I wanna see Francis do mixed martial arts,” said Demetrious Johnson. Given that Ngannou’s PFL contract allows him to venture into other combat sports, ‘Mighty Mouse’ cannot see why the promotion cannot host boxing events in the future. He added, “I know that might be hard to hear, but I don’t see why PFL cannot do boxing. Why not PFL do boxing?”

Furthermore, Johnson also claimed that he believes that Francis Ngannou won the fight against Tyson Fury. Although the judges scored differently, he believes that ‘The Predator’ is now a big draw in the sport.

“We have one of the biggest stars in boxing right now, Francis, who just beat the undisputed heavyweight champion in the world, Tyson Fury,” said the former UFC and current ONE Championship star. Moreover, Johnson also claims that Ngannou’s performance may set him up for many more boxing fights in the future, and has reasons to believe he would be better off in the ring.

Johnson believes Ngannou has completed his MMA checklist

Demetrious Johnson is interested in seeing Francis Ngannou box. He mentioned how the former UFC star has fought the best MMA fighters in his career. As such, there is no need for him to go back to that sport because there’s more that he has left to prove. Johnson said, “I want to see Francis box… He’s beaten the best of the world in martial arts, he’s been a world champion. There’s nothing left for him to do in that sport.”

Although Ngannou never fought Jon Jones, which is a highly anticipated fight, ‘Mighty Mouse’ claims that there is a future for the Cameroonian-French in boxing. His latest performance can create opportunities for him to fight some other heavyweight boxers like Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. “I want to see him do boxing. He’s gonna make big money in boxing and he can fight Anthony Joshua, he can fight Deontay Wilder. The gates have just opened up,” Demetrious Johnson added.
