The boxing and MMA community was recently abuzz after rumors of a bout between Floyd Mayweather and former UFC champ Jose Aldo started doing the rounds. The Brazilian even confirmed the news during a press conference, claiming that both parties were in negotiations currently.

Former welterweight and middleweight champ Georges St-Pierre, while talking to a correspondent of ‘The Sports Network’, disclosed that he too had an offer from Mayweather for a boxing match. Not surprisingly, GSP also disclosed that he was not too keen on the matchup despite the massive amount of money involved in the fight.
“For me, it’s a question of honor. It’s not about money. You cannot buy me.” the 41-year-old explained.
For fans of the Canadian legend, this won’t come as a big surprise. GSP is quite well known as someone who chased the glory that came with his performances rather than the massive money fights which many fighters are very keen on currently.
GSP would prefer an MMA fight or a hybrid matchup
The former champ also understood the dangers of stepping into the ring with one of the best boxers of the generation. In order to create an equal opportunity, he claimed that he asked for him to be able to employ kicks or takedowns as a part of the agreement.
“It’s either you let me use my legs or the takedown,” he stated.
During the interview with TSN, GSP continued to emphasize that he would take up that fight only if it was a hybrid match-up where aspects of MMA could come into place.

“For me it’s, they wanna fight me they have to accept my terms…there needs to be a fair compromise, a 50-50 compromise, otherwise I’m not doing it,” he explained.
Adding to this, the MMA legend also knew how a hybrid fight with Mayweather would exactly go down. Claiming that ‘Money’ would stand no chance, he said, “I’ll survive the boxing round and they will not survive the MMA, this I guarantee you.”
