As we inch closer to UFC 285 and the return of what many consider to be the greatest MMA fighter of all time, Jon Jones clearly recognizes the inspiration he needs before a fight of this magnitude. In a bout that could finally settle the debate of who exactly is the GOAT of MMA, the former Light heavyweight has his task cut out for him as he gets ready to face Ciryl Gane. An elite striker himself, Gane will serve as a unique challenge to Jones who, as of date, has successfully dismantled multiple MMA legends during his reign. So, it’s quite natural that the 35-year-old, in a desire to prove himself yet again, seeks motivation from another legend himself.

In one of Floyd Mayweather‘s latest Instagram posts, wherein the boxer showed off his expensive collection of bags, Jones too left a comment displaying his admiration for the undefeated boxer. The UFC fighter and Mayweather are undoubtedly among the best athletes in their respective sports and, for the MMA GOAT, this might just be the inspiration he needed before his fight at UFC 285.

Jon Jones finds motivation from none other than boxing legend Floyd Mayweather

Boxing fans are well aware of Mayweather‘s penchant for all things expensive and flashy. The 45-year-old’s Instagram is often filled with pictures displaying his lavish lifestyle and, of course, his sparring sessions. Now, in his latest post, Mayweather uploaded a short video of his collection of exotic bags, which together might have been valued at over a few million dollars. ‘Money’ followed it up with the caption: “I buy myself exotic cars and I buy her exotic bags.”

While reactions to the post were plenty, the one comment that stood out was of Jon Jones. The former light heavyweight champ with just a single word displayed what drives him to success inside and outside the cage.

The controversial fighter, who has been constantly embroiled in some sort of controversy, finds himself a chance to redeem himself against Gane. After losing his P4P status and making news for the wrong reasons, a win here could propel Jones back to the top of the pack. While that doesn’t mean he loses his propensity toward troublesome activities, it will definitely silence fans who doubt his capacity as a fighter. But ‘Bones’ too understands the risks of the size difference in the heavyweight division, evident from his bulking and weight training.
