Conor McGregor has remained out of action for more than 3 years now. But now, he is set to make an epic return, not to the Octagon, but into a squared ring against Logan Paul. Earlier in December 2024, the ‘Mystic Mac’ made a huge announcement. He announced that he had a preliminary agreement with the Ambani family to fight Paul in an exhibition boxing match. Well, the fighting community has been waiting for the Irishman to make a comeback to the MMA realm. However, with McGregor opting for a boxing bout against a YouTuber-turned-WWE fighter, things backtracked pretty quickly.
No doubt, the money was big. Both McGregor and Paul would receive a guaranteed $250 million for showing up for the fight. There was no way the ‘Mystic Mac’ was letting such a chance go, especially after the legal troubles he recently faced. To add spice to the mix, McGregor also hinted that Dana White may have a role to play in matchmaking. Maybe that’s why he confirmed that the Irishman would return to the Octagon in late 2025.
McGregor and the Mac Life Official took to Instagram to share another big update about the fight. The post showed pictures of the Irishman and Paul, with the caption hinting at the huge amount of money McGregor would receive for the fight. The caption read, “Conor McGregor and Logan Paul are to feature as part of a historic “Visit India” tourism campaign as the pair clash in Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium. The two will be well rewarded for their efforts, with McGregor set to walkaway with $250 million, making the fight one of the most financially rewarding in history. The event will be funded by the Ambani family dynasty, the richest in India.”

As soon as the post crossed the threshold of the social media platform, the fight fans took control of the comments section and revealed their thoughts. Needless to say, the comments were chaotic. Most of the fans backed ‘The Notorious’ up, while others rallied for his MMA return. Let’s see what the fighting community had to say.

A few of the fans noted that it wasn’t Jake Paul that the ‘Mystic Mac’ would fight. Weighing in on this, one of the fans wrote, “bro fighting the wrong paul.” Another fan commented, “The wrong paul [laughing emoji].” One more fan added, “At least make it vs Jake Paul.” Of course, with the YouTuber-turned-professional boxer talking trash about McGregor, the fighting community did expect the Irishman to take on the younger Paul brother.
Most of the fight fans stood up for the Irishman to take the big win, claiming that it would be an “Easy win for mcgreegor.” One of the fans quoted, “Team Mcgregor All day everyday! 🇮🇪 [red heart emoji] [praying hands emoji].” Meanwhile, one of the fans reflected at the time when ‘The Notorious’ took on Floyd Mayweather in a boxing bout. Even though Conor McGregor couldn’t win against ‘Money’, he never really got knocked down. And that was a significant trait that ensured that Paul wouldn’t defeat the Dubliner. The comment read, “bro mcgreggor fought mayweather and never fell and did pretty decently for someone who never boxed before, both pauls wouldnt stand a chance.”
But one thing was clear to the fans. Many claimed that the former UFC double champion would never return to the Octagon. One of the fans commented, “Never fighting MMA again.” Well, McGregor was already set to return at UFC 303. But a broken pinky toe shattered all dreams. Nevertheless, a few of the fans also stood up to back McGregor in his quest. A comment read, “Cmon guys, would you fight again in UFC when you can earn 250M in an exhibition match???? Let the guy do whatever the f–k he wants, i would do the same!! Congrats to him!”
