UFC 281 delivered at its full capacity. Although the card saw 11 finishes out of 14 fights; it was Dustin Poirier vs Michael Chandler that stole the show. The entire main card was full of finishes. However, the most talked about out of all those fights was the bout between the lightweights.
The pair went on a rampage, swinging heavy leather at each other. Nevertheless, the diamond took a more technical route while doing so. After battling it out for a little more than two rounds, the former interim champ, locked in submission and emerged victorious.

Poirier made an appearance on MMA hour, post his victory, and talked about the entire experience. Moreover, he also talked about meeting the boxing legend, Mike Tyson backstage, before his bout against Chandler.
Dustin Poirier on meeting the ‘real’ Iron-Mike
While Michael Chandler likes to call himself ‘Iron Mike’ nevertheless, the origin of the name belongs to Mike Tyson. Dustin Poirier, in his interview with Ariel Helwani, made it very clear who the real ‘Iron-Mike’ is. Moreover, he also described what meeting Tyson was like.
The Diamond said, “it was awesome [meeting him]… Chuck Zito is friends with Tyson, got me a signed glove you know.. a couple of years ago. I never got to meet him in person, so to shake his hand and see him in the flesh, you know. I’ve been watching the guy for so long.”

He further added, “Throughout my fighting career, I’ve always appreciated Mike Tyson’s ability. To put into words of feelings fighters have and just how crazy the chaos is. He speaks very elegantly about everything you know. If you see his documentary, it’s really awesome to see him speak. So I’ve been a fan of his for so long, to shake his hand and to talk to him was something special to me”.
Did Mike Tyson give any advice to Poirier before his fight?

After the 2nd rank lightweight was done explaining, Helwani was quick to ask him whether Tyson gave any advice to him before the fight. Helwani asked, “Did Tyson give you any advice before walking out?”
The Diamond was honest when he replied that he didn’t receive any advice from Iron Mike. He said, “No… I think he was actually there to come to talk to Glover or somebody and they happen to be in my locker room. So when I walked in I was like oh sh*t man! I gotta get a picture with this guy”.
