Mike Tyson will be stepping up to compete inside the squared circle for the first time since his last exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr. which took place in 2020. Ahead of his clash with the social media star turned boxer, Jake Paul, UFC CEO Dana White had recently revealed, “At least I know, I talked to his wife a couple of days ago. And he’s taking it serious, and he’s training for it and you know, so we’ll see how it plays out.”

The 31-year age difference between Tyson and Paul has been a point of contention for many fans and experts in the combat sports world. However, according to a recent conversation by Sean O’Malley on the TimboSugarShow episode no.279, there is another perspective on the fight.

During the episode, Schmitty from the show stated, “At the end of the day I just like how it’s cool, how like you could do anything really… Mike Tyson being the old, like he doesn’t have to do this, but he still feels that competitiveness in him, still he wants to go out…”

This prompted O’Malley to exclaim, “I wonder if he’s going to be able to do drugs like testosterone or whatever.”

His comments regarding the drug testing for this fight are interesting as so far the bout has only been announced as an exhibition, with no details regarding if it’s a professional bout or not. As such, with the fight’s details still unclear, speculation persists about the regulatory framework and athlete testing protocols that will govern the event.

Nevertheless, Mike Tyson recently also addressed the criticism for this fight as he laid out why he chose to step into the boxing ring against Jake Paul!

‘Iron Mike’ wants the critics to recognize his greatness

Mike Tyson will be 58 years old when he steps into the ring against Jake Paul. But according to ‘Iron Mike’, the critics who slam him for his willingness to absorb punishment at his age have ignored a key factor.

In an interview with Reuters, Tyson stated, “I’m 58 and what? I’m getting billions of views from just talking to somebody about fighting… Everybody, even most of the athletes, they’re jealous. That’s whack. … I say in your prime you couldn’t draw a million people, man. What are you talking – you couldn’t sell out an arena. Who at 58 could sell out an 80,000-seat arena?”
